About SSC GD Exam

SSC conducts exams for various posts in different Government Departments and Ministries. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the examination. Every year thousands of vacancies are filled by SSC in Government departments.

The Commission will examine recruitment to the posts of Constable (General Duty) in Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), National Investigation Agency (NIA) Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Secretariat Security Force (SSF) and Rifleman (General Duty) in Assam Rifles. SSC GD is a National-Level Exam. SSC GD 2023 Exam is conducted in four stages. Those four stages are:

SSC GD 2023 Eligibility

Every candidate who is applying for SSC GD has to satisfy the eligibility criteria set up by SSC. If it is found at a later stage that a candidate has lied or given incorrect information about himself/herself, then the candidate's candidature will be cancelled with immediate effect. The eligibility of a candidate is divided into the following:

SSC GD 2023 Nationality Criteria

Only Indian aspirants can apply for the exam. The candidate must be born and be a citizen of India.

SSC GD 2023 Age Criteria

Only the candidates who belong to the age group of 18 to 23 years are eligible to apply for SSC GD 2023. The candidates must not cross the age limit of 23 before the release of the notification. For candidates belonging to ST/SC, there is a 5-year relaxation in the age upper limit and for OBC candidates there is a 3-year relaxation. For candidates who are Ex-Servicemen, there is a 3-year relaxation after deducting the military service rendered from the actual age on the date of reckoning, however, candidates who are son/daughters/dependants of Ex-Servicemen will not be given the age relaxation.

SSC GD 2023 Educational Qualification

Candidates should have passed Matriculation or X class from a Recognized Indian Board to be eligible for this exam. Candidates who are appearing for their class 10th examination or who have not completed it cannot apply or are not eligible to apply for SSC GD 2023.

SSC GD 2023 Application Form

The application fee for SSC GD 2023 is INR 100 for candidates who belong to the General category and the OBC category. Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Ex-Servicemen are exempted from payment of application fee.

Mode of Payment: Application fee can be paid online through SBI Challan/ SBI Net Banking or by using Visa, Mastercard or Debit card or Maestro Credit.

Stages: SSC GD 2023 application process is divided into two parts :

Steps to Apply for SSC GD 2023

  • Step 1 - Registration: Candidates need to enter Aadhar Card number, Email-Id, Phone number, father's and mother's name, category, nationality, gender, etc to complete the registration process. The candidate must also create a password or it will be created for them and shall be sent to the given Phone number or mail ID.
  • Step 2 - Application Form: Candidates should log in with the registered email id to apply for SSC GD 2023 posts. The next step is to fill the exam centres, age, Domicile State/ UT, and preference of CAPFs.
  • Step 3 - Documents Needed: Candidates should upload Photo/ Signature/ Biometric impression in the prescribed format.
  • Step 4 - Application Status: Payment status and application status can be checked by clicking on the links available on the Latest Notifications Tab on the official website. The payment must be done only through the Online process.

SSC GD 2023 Admit Card

SSC GD 2023 DME admit card will be released by the Central Reserve Police Force(CRPF). The CRPF will announce the dates for the SSC GD Detailed Medical Examination (DME)/Document Verification (DV). 

Candidates must bring the printed Admit Card on the day of the Detailed Medical Examination along with other original and important documents for checking. The candidates must also strictly follow new rules and guidelines as per the given COVID situation like wearing a face mask at all times, downloading the Arogya Setu App, Carrying hand sanitisers, etc.

SSC GD 2023 Admit card is released before the Computer Based Examination and for all other stages, it is notified on the official website. SSC GD Admit Card contains the details of the candidates like name, address, photo, signature etc. along with important instructions for the candidates.

Candidates must carry the hard copy of the Admit Card to the exam centre. It is mandatory to carry admit card to the exam centre and candidates are not allowed to sit in the examination centre without the admit card. The candidates must carry a valid ID Proof and other essential documents as per the instructions along with SSC GD 2023 Admit Card to the exam centre.

SSC GD 2023 Exam Centres

SSC GD 2023 exam is conducted across India and candidates can choose the exam centre based on their convenience. Exam centre details will be printed on the Admit Card.

Candidates who are interested to enroll for SSC GD Exam will be able to fill the choices for the exam centre when they will fill the registration form. Candidates would need to select multiple SSC GD exam centres in the order of preference from first to the last.

Out of the selected choices, a candidate will be allotted with only one exam centre. This exam centre would be non-changeable. Any requests to the commission for changing the centre will not be entertained.

SSC GD 2023 Exam Pattern

SSC GD 2023 exam will be conducted in four stages: Computer Based Test (CBT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST) and Medical Examination.

  • Computer Based Test (CBT)
    • The Computer-Based exam consists of 100 objective type questions carrying 100 marks and the total duration of the exam is one and a half hours i.e, 90 minutes.
    • SSC GD 2023 exam will consist of four sections namely General Intelligence, General knowledge and general awareness, Elementary Mathematics, and English/Hindi.

  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET): The commission shortlists candidates for PET/ PST based on the performance in CBE (Computer Based Examination). Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) will be done at various centres finalized by the CAPFs.
  • Physical Standard Test (PST): Candidates height, chest and weight will be measured after qualifying PET (race).
  • Medical Examination: This is the final round in the recruitment process and the candidates will be called for the Medical Examination only if they have qualified in PET/ PST and scored above the cut-off marks in Written Examination.

SSC GD 2023 Cut Off

The SSC GD 2023 cut off marks for SSF and NIA will be released on the official website. Candidates can refer to the cut off marks from the SSC official webiste.

SSC GD 2023 Cut Off is the minimum marks that a candidate must score in the exam in order to qualify that exam. The authorities of SSC will decide the cut off of SSC GD 2023 Exam. SSC GD 2023 Recruitment

The recruitment process consists of Computer Based Examination (CBE), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST) and Medical Examination.

  • Eligibility: All eligible candidates will be called for SSC GD Computer Based Examination. Admit Cards to applicants for PET/ PST and DME/ RME will be available through online mode only.
  • Document Verification: Candidates' documents will be verified at the time of Detailed Medical Examination (DME) by the CAPFs
  • Final Selection: Based on aggregate marks scored by the candidates in the Computer-Based Examination, the final selection of candidates, along with force allocation, in each category, namely, SC, ST, OBC, Un-Reserved, and veterans, will be made separately for male and female candidates in respect of each State/ UT.
