RRB ALP 2025: Application Ongoing, Exam Date, Eligibility, Syllabus, Pattern

The RRB Assistant Loco Pilot 2025 application process is ongoing. The application form was released on Apr 12, 2025. While the last date to apply is May 19, 2025. Candidates willing to apply for the Assistant Loco Pilot post are advised to go through the RRB ALP 2025 eligibility criteria first. The opening has been announced for a total of 9970 seats.

The vacancy has been divided into different categories and zones. Thus candidates must check their respective zones and apply accordingly. Eligible candidates will be able to fill out the RRB ALP 2025 application form online on the official websites of the regional RRBs participating in the recruitment. After the forms are closed the correction window will be activated soon.

The RRB ALP 2025 exam dates will be announced soon for the Computer-Based Tests 1 and 2. The CBT 1 is scheduled to be held tentatively between Jun-Aug 2025. While the CBT 2 will be held in Sep 2025. The RRB ALP Computer-Based Aptitude Test is expected to be held in Nov 2025. The Document Verification and the Medical Exam for the shortlisted candidates will be conducted in Nov-Dec 2025.

RRB ALP stands for Railway Recruitment Board Assistant Loco Pilot and it is a national level entrance exam. The selection process comprises of two stages of CBT, Computer Aptitude Test (CBAT) and Document Verification. Once the candidate has cleared the second stage of CBT, they will have to undergo the Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) and Document Verification.

What is RRB ALP?

The Form of RRB ALP is Railway Recruitment Board Assistant Loco Pilot. RRB is a government body that oversees the recruitment process for the various posts in the railways sector. The RRB ALP is for recruiting employees for the Assistant Loco Pilot post. There are 21 RRBs all across India and all of them recruit employees based on one exam i.e. RRB ALP exam. The exam is available in more than 12 languages English, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Assamese, Kannada, Marathi, Manipuri, Konkani, Urdu and Bengali. The examination is made available in so many languages to ease the process for aspiring candidates and to help them score better by writing the exam in the language that they are comfortable with.

RRB ALP 2025 Application Form

RRB ALP application form submission last date is May 19, 2025. The application form is available online on the official websites of the regional RRBs participating in the recruitment. Eligible candidates must fill out and submit the application form before the set deadline.

Candidates must note that there are different regional websites for RRB which will be releasing the Application Forms for RRB ALP across their regions. The list of the participating RRBs is provided in the official notification provided in the section below. No offline RRB ALP 2025 application form will be provided.

How to apply for the RRB ALP 2025 Exam?

Follow the steps given below to apply for the RRB ALP 2025 Exam.

• Step 1: First of all, you have to visit the respective official RRB website to apply.
• Step 2: Click the 'Apply Online' link on the home page
• Step 3: After that, you will need to finish a One-time Registration. For it, you will need to fill in your personal information like your father's name, mother's name, phone number, email ID etc. Candidates /need to make sure that all the details are correct
• Step 4: On submitting the registration form, the registration number and password are displayed. Also, One One-time Passwords (OTPs) are sent to the registered mobile number and email ID along with the registration details. Candidates should retrieve the OTPs from their email and mobile and then log in to proceed with filling out the application form.
• Step 5: Then the candidates will need to pay the fee for their application form. Post this the candidates will be able to download their application form and keep it safe.

Specifications for Image Uploads

Candidates need to provide the signature and photo upload which has to be in the file size between 15 KB to 40 KB in size. The dimensions of the photo upload should be  35mm x 45mm. It should have the name and date printed on it.

RRB ALP 2025 Eligibility

The candidate's application might be rejected at any time during the process of admission if the candidate is found to be ineligible for the examination. Before appearing for any exam, candidates need to be well versed in eligibility criteria scenarios such that any important events related to eligibility criteria should not be missed out in any circumstances. The RRB ALP 2025 Eligibility is determined by the Railway Recruitment Board and the same has been listed below. 

Educational Requirements

For the Loco Pilot, a candidate needs to qualify for Matriculation or SSCL+ITI or a Course completed as an Apprentice or Diploma/Degree in Engineering to be able to sit for this exam.

Age Requirements

To be eligible, a candidate has to be between 18 to 30 years of age. Age Relaxation is applicable for the candidates of specific categories as per the Governmental norms.

RRB ALP 2025 Exam Dates

RRB ALP 2025 Exam Pattern

Having a brief knowledge of the examination pattern will help the candidates to have an idea about the exam paper. An RRB ALP aspirant will have to go through 3 stages of selection. The RRB ALP 2025 Exam Pattern for all stages is given below.

RRB ALP CBT 1 Exam Pattern

The first CBT Exam of the RRB ALP Exam will have a total of 75 questions. Each correct answer a candidate gives will fetch 3 marks and each wrong answer will result in the deduction of 0.33 marks. Unattempted questions will have no negative marking.

RRB ALP CBT 2 Exam Pattern

This CBT will have 2 parts: Part A and Part B. The total number of questions in this Paper II will be 175. Part A will be allotted time of 90 minutes. To attempt Part B, candidates will be allotted 60 minutes.

CBAT (Computer-Based Aptitude Test) is the 3rd stage of the selection process for RRB ALP. Only, the candidates who are applying for Assistant Loco Pilot shall appear for this. This test will be bilingual i.e., English and Hindi. The candidates can appear for this test only when they have qualified for Part A & Part B of the CBT-II exam. There will be 5 test batteries and the candidates will have to score at least 42 marks in each test battery. There will be no negative marking for this exam.

RRB ALP 2025 Admit Card

Candidates will be able to download their Admit Card for the RRB ALP Exam from the regional websites RRB. Under no circumstances, the RRB ALP 2025 admit card will be sent to the candidates by post. All such requests will be turned down.

How to download the RRB ALP 2025 Admit Card?

Candidates need to follow the below-given steps to download their RRB ALP 2025 Admit Card:

• Step 1: Firstly, candidates need to visit the regional website of RRB.
• Step 2: Then, the candidates need to click on the "Admit Card" link
• Step 3: In this step, candidates need to fill in their username and password and log in to download their admit card. Finally, they will be able to download their admit card.

RRB ALP 2025 Exam Centres

Candidates will be allowed to select their preferences for RRB ALP 2025 Exam Centres when they will be filling their application forms. The system will allow one exam centre which will be the final exam centre for the candidate's exam. Once, an exam centre is allotted, it would not be changed under any circumstances. Hence, the candidates should fill the exam centres with utmost care.

RRB ALP 2025 Results

The results for the RRB ALP will be released on the Regional Railways Recruitment Board websites. The candidates just need to log in with their credentials. RRB ALP 2025 results will be declared in the form of a list. The candidate's name and roll number will be displayed in the list of qualified candidates. For each round, the list of qualifying candidates will be generated.

• Hit the "Results" tab
• Select the results link for RRB ALP and Technicians.
• The result will be downloaded automatically in the PDF format.
• The PDF will contain the roll number of all shortlisted candidates, search your roll number in the PDF.
