XIME Bangalore, is an acclaimed management institute nestled in the exciting city of Bangalore. However its small campus and high fees is a matter of concern for the students.

An Institute with a legacy of 33 years, the Xavier Institute of management and Entrepreneurship, Bangalore, is one of the prominent Management institutions in Bangalore. The institute today promises its students a kickstart to their career, which it lives up to, for the most part.

Situated in the buzzing metropolitan city of Bangalore, the institute has its merits and its demerits. To the college’s merit, the placement rate at the institute is pretty high consistently. However, studying at the institute may turn out to be expensive for the students as it charges higher than average fees for its courses compared to other institutes.

Moreover, the infrastructure of the campus often disappoints the students as it does not meet the standard of a prestigious institute. Another aspect of the institute is that student's life is often stressful with the rigorous curriculum and strict rules.

Table of Contents

Limited Options & High Fees for Courses

XIME Bangalore offers only two courses at the master's level, which are namely, PGDM and PGDM Business Analytics. Among them, the PGDM Business Analytics course was started in the academic year 2021-22. It does offer, however, a Ph.D. program since 2015-16, when it was recognised as a Research Center in Management by the University of Mysore.

The PGDM course fees for 2022-24 has been INR 11,50,000. It is noteworthy that the institute increased the fees for the course by INR 50,000 over two consecutive years. Students find it difficult to pay such expensive program fees. Although, students loans are available, students have to take into consideration their fooding and lodging bills as well, which combined together becomes excruciating to pay.

An Integral Part of XIME- The Faculty

The faculty at XIME includes 19 regular faculty, 14 visiting faculty, 2 adjunct faculty, and 7 international visiting faculty. The regular faculty are well qualified with a master's degree or a PhD, in a few cases from institutes like IITs and IIMs. The International visiting faculty arrive from universities in the USA, China and France.

The faculty at XIME has often been described as friendly, supportive and knowledgeable. The teachers are qualified, and some of them have long periods of experience in working with industries. The students find the teachers to be very approachable during the length of the course.

However, as per the organic reviews on Quora, the attrition rate for the faculty is high at the institute. Many teachers had left the institute after 1 year of working there.

Modern But Small Campus

The XIME, Bangalore, is a 5-acre campus. The teaching cum-administration part of the institute is entirely in one building, with the girls hostels also being part of the same building. The Boys hostel is located behind the main building. Although the campus is small compared to many other colleges, the students have been provided with all of the basic facilities.

The campus is wifi enabled, although the students have often complained about its speed. The classrooms are spacious and well-equipped with LCD projectors. The classrooms are not air-conditioned, which is a discomfort for the students on the summer days in Bangalore.

The Library at XIME Bangalore is well stocked with a good variety of management books and journals as well as archives, newspapers, audio-video cassettes and CDs. A library management system helps with navigating the library. The library has reading spaces that are peaceful for students to read and study.

The campus is very safe for students. The campus and the hostels have security personnel to ensure the safety of students. The campus and the common areas are under 24/7 CCTV surveillance.

Clean and Comfortable Hostels

As a fully residential campus, all students must stay at the campus. Both girls and boys can avail of separate hostels at the institute. The total hostel and mess fees vary from INR 10,500 to 11,500 per month. The students will be staying in hostels for 10 months a year, and so the total will come to around INR 1,07,000.

The environment inside the hostels is clean and hygienic. The rooms are spacious, well furnished, well lit and on a twin or triple-sharing basis. In the case of AC rooms, students can be charged extra. A common room with indoor games/TV is part of the hostel. Basic amenities, such as 24x7 hot water, wifi, etc., are provided for the comfort of the students.

There are some strict rules and regulations that the students must abide by in the hostel premises. Starting with the curfew inside the hostel, the students must enter the hostel by 9 PM each day. The students are not allowed to go outside the campus curfew, and this could be felt as restrictive to some students.

Meals at the Mess

Per the students' insights at the various search portals, the quality of the food provided inside the hostels to the students can be said to be average. The candidates are offered breakfast, lunch and dinner. Vegetarian and non vegetarian food several times a week are served to the hostellers. Students are often served with varieties to choose from.

Life as a Student of XIME

Life as a student of XIME Bangalore can be described as bittersweet. The students have to follow the strict rules at the institution. The stress of academics can be high as the college follows a trimester system. The students are expected to adhere to the attendance requirements strictly.

However, the college does conduct many inter-college fests that are conducted with great enthusiasm in the institute. XIMERA is the 2 day, two-day National Level Management Fest that usually sees over 2000 attendees.

FINITIATIVE, HRUDAY, MARKXIME and EMPRESSARIO are some of the clubs at the institute that conduct various activities and events for the students. The students at the institute are often sent to attend fests and competitions conducted by the various colleges and institutes, and they often emerge victorious.

How to Dress at XIME?

XIME Bangalore has a strict dress code that all students are expected to follow. This is the norm in most management institutes in India. On Mondays, which are also known as Uniform days at the institute, the male students are to wear formal wear, with Suits/ Jackets, and the ladies are to wear Sarees that the institute arranges. For the rest of the week, the dress code is limited to wearing formal.

The Diverse Student Community

Students from almost all states and cultures of India are represented at XIME Bangalore. Being situated in the metropolitan city of Bangalore, the college is a melting pot of students with different backgrounds.

Every year, 45-50% of the students that join the institute are girl students. Moreover, the students that join the institute come after qualifying for varying degrees - a major portion of the students are engineering graduates. A significant number of the students join the institute after gaining work experience as well.
