The University was established on 29th September 1981 under Vidyasagar University Act 1981. The Vidyasagar University was named after Vidyasagar. The University was recognized under UGC. The University aim is to provide an answer to the needs of the region, ethnic, socio-cultural and geographical along with mainstream education. The agenda of the university is "Education, Knowledge, Progress". Many management institutes applied to the university seeing permission for various management courses.

Vidyasagar University distance education admission offers various programmes like undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and doctorate. The university is planning to introduce postgraduate courses at undergraduate colleges. These courses are fully covered which are laid down by Distance Education Council.

Vidyasagar University - Distance Education Eligibility Criteria:

Courses	Eligibility
M.Sc [Environmental Science]	Candidates should be passed in Honour/Special Honours/Major or Candidates should have completed three years of general graduate with a minimum of 300 marks in the concerned subject. These criteria are not applicable to the sponsored candidates who already have two or three-year experience in science laboratories/industries/academic and research institutes In that case, candidates having two or three-year completed graduation are eligible.
M.Com/ MA	Candidates should have completed Honour/Special Honour/Major or Candidates should have completed a three-year general graduate with a minimum of 300 marks in the concerned subject. Candidates should have completed two-year graduation with one-year bridge course. if any candidate wants to do an MA course with other subjects he or she should have completed MA in graduation level with at least a minimum of 300 marks
M.Sc	Candidates should have completed Honours/ special honors/ major in relevant subject from a recognized university.

Vidyasagar University - Distance Education Admissions:

There are no age criteria in admission in Distance Learning Course.
Candidates can apply for admission online through our official website of the university.
There are no cut-off mark criteria for any course in the admission
Applicants who are taking admission under science subject will be approved on the basis of the seats available
Students application will be canceled if he or she is found in any indiscipline or any misconduct.
