Clubs & Associations :
There are mear about 100 to 180 clubs and chaptes to choose from! There ate 2 major events, graVITas which is technical event and Riviera which is a fest. And there are many events like every day, there is sime technical guest lectures, cultural feasts by people of different cultures, languages, countries. College life here is quite good than in other colleges. But Here is a wierd thing, there's a rule in which boys are not allowed to touch the girls or get cozy in public, its called anti PDA! there are many guards everywhere in the campus, if found guilty , they will catch them and call their homes and charge fines accordingly. And in worst case, EXPULSION!
Entrance Exams & Admissions :
First of all, there is an entrance exam called VITEEE, which is held every year in april. And results come by april end and counseling starts by 2nd week of may. Eligibilty is 60% in physics chemistry maths. Everything is based on your rank you score, first come first serve basis in every single thing. There will be a counseling hall with a screen showing different category seats available for students to chose from. Category 1 has the lowest tution fee and with limited seats available. And the category 5 being the highest tuition fee.
Placements & Internships :
Microsoft, DEshaw, Deloitte, etc., are the major recruiters. Microsoft gave 8 students a package of 39 lakhs rupees per annum, predominantly to CSE, IT and ECE students bagged them (as of 2017-18 alumnus) There are lots of opportunities for internships. We can work with the startups incubated by the university itself. And we can avail credits for that too. Average salary from VIT is near about 4 to 5 lakh rupees per annum as of 2018. Alumni network is quite strong in the campus. They usually visit the campus and are invited for notivational purposes or some come for giving internships in the startups they were incubated by the university itself!
Fees & Scholarships :
Its divided into 5 categories: Category 1: 1.93 lakhs/year Category 2: 3.07 lakhs/year Category 3: 4.09 lakhs/year Category 4: 4.97 lakhs/year Category 5: 5.9~ lakhs/year Scholarships are only provided for lower class people who couldn't afford studying in the university, that too by an NGO not related to university in any way. And only scholarships students get is only when they come in merit list of top 10 students in their branch in academics criteria. Also to the students who come in top 1000 in the entrance exam called VITEEE Loans may be needed for sure if a student is from a middle class background. For a student in category 2 its a fees 3.07 lakhs/year and hostel+ mess fee will be around 90,000rs to 1 lakh rs. So you can assume upto 4 or 5 lakh rupees per annum. Mostly indian bank and city union bank which are having their branch offices in the university give student loans easily.
Academics & Faculty :
We have a fully flexible credit system (FFCS) in which we can choose our time, our subject and our faculty and we can decide the workload we can take for each semester. Quality of teaching is good. Most of the faculties nearly 90% above of them are phD in their subjects what they teach, no compromises in that from the university side! Overall experience: there are a lot of opportunities here, lots of clubs and chapters, we can also go for research and also can work for our startup plans. Also due to FFCS we can clear all core subjects once (if no interest in the current branch you are studying in.), then we can take some elective subjects from all different branches if we wish to. All the doors to pursue the dreams are open. If a person is here with a vision to achieve he will get good opportunities from the university!
College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities :
Hostels here are costly like ranges from 38,000rs to 98,000 rs but the campus has the best possible security! Outside campus its cheap like, 4000rs per month per person if you are sharing an apartment to yourself with 3 people. But security is compromised. Food in campus is good. Not like other universities. Wifi is unlimited but switched off from 12.30 am to 4.30 am. Classes and labs are highly updated. Infrastructure is very good and they keep updating it.
