St. Joseph's College for Women aims to offer holistic education in arts, science, and commerce for the empowerment of women from all sections of society by promoting academic excellence, global employability, and leadership with a social conscience. The college, affiliated to Andhra University, was founded on 2nd July 1958, with six members of teaching staff and 28 students in the Pre-University course. The college was set up to serve the interests of the young women of Visakhapatnam and continues to do so with no thought of commercial gain.

SJCW Admission 2024

The college is now a grant-in-aid institution, with a campus area of 7.5 acres and student strength 1250, offering four intermediate courses, 12 undergraduate courses in BA, B.com, BBA, and B.sc, and four postgraduate courses. The UGC, recognizing the outstanding quality of education and excellent academic record, conferred autonomy on the college in 1987.

The college offers various UG courses like B.Sc, B.A, B.Com, BBA, and certification courses. Foundation courses and courses are obligatory for all students. Foundation courses include general English, a second language like Telugu, Hindi, French, Sanskrit, and general education courses.

The college offers a 3 year UG course. Candidates should have passed 10+2 from Andhra Pradesh or any equivalent recognized board. Students from SC, ST, BC, and minority (Christian/Catholic) will be given preference in Admission. Admission is based on merit.

SJCW PG Admission 2024

The college offers 2 years of full-time PG courses. The PG courses are M.Sc and MA. The college offers various streams in M.Sc and MA English. In M.Sc the specializations are Home Science, Mathematics, Organic Chemistry. In MA, English.

The Admission to PG takes place through Andhra University Common Entrance Test (AUCET). The university conducts counseling every year on the campus. Students can also enter the college by management quota by paying the required fees. The candidate should have a UG degree

The college also offers UG diploma courses. It offers diploma courses in various streams. The college also offers advanced diploma courses. The Diploma specializations are Pre - School Education, French, Event Management, Dietetics And Nutrition, Bakery And Confectionery, Tourism & Travel Management, Communication Skills In English. In Advanced diploma, the specializations are Travel and Tourism, English Communication And Presentation Skills, French, Clinical Nutrition And Dietetics
