SRTMUN Distance Education was established in the year 2009 at Nanded, Maharashtra. The university initially submitted the proposal for the recognition of the centre for Distance Education to the Distance Education Council IGNOU, New Delhi. The recognition was provisionally granted for opening the centre for distance education to conduct distant mode courses.

SRTMUN Distance Education Courses are beneficial for distance learners from the various age groups, a different section of the society who are unable to pursue education, female class of the society who has remained deprived because of domestic responsibilities & Social restrictions, all sections of the society irrespective of caste, religion gender, area of origin, Social and financial status
