Sports Facilities

Somaiya Vidyavihar is known for its state-of-the-art sports facilities. Some of the amenities include an athletic synthetic track football pitch, a badminton court, a tennis court, a squash court, a basketball court, volleyball courts, and a well-equipped gymnasium. Somaiya Sports Academy actively organizes events across the year and nurtures a thriving sports community.

Canteens

The students are happy and healthy with the nutritious cuisines. The 3 canteens are constantly buzzing with life, food, and conversations. They also act as a good networking space, as they accommodate people from across colleges.

Labs

The labs provided at Somaiya Vidyavihar University's Riidl Academy, Mumbai are mentioned below.

Digital Fabrication Laboratory- Fablab supported by Fab Foundation, is a US organization that emerged from MIT's center for BITs & Atoms Fab Lab Program. It is an open and collaborative workshop space for computer-driven innovation, design, and fabrication is part of a global network of 1000 Fab Labs
Bioriidl Lab- Bioriidl is India's First and only Do It Yourself Biolab and has a BioIncubator to support the growing biotechnological, global social movement of Do-it-yourself biology (DIY biology, DIY bio) in which individuals, communities, and small organizations, study biology and life sciences using the same methods as traditional research institutions.
SMAC Lab- A place to design, develop, deploy and test software applications. It is an ideal place for Web, Mobile developers, App development, and App testing, we have mobile devices and computers/servers with different configurations.
XR riidl Lab- A place to design, develop, deploy and test applications for XR developers where x means virtual/ hyper/ Augmented reality. For development and testing, the institute has equipment like VR headsets by Oculus Rift, Sony Playstation, HTC Vive, and Microsoft Hololens.

Polytechnic Hostel

Hostel Facilities

The institute provides separate hostels for girls and boys. Sandipani Hostel is dedicated to boys and Maitreyi Hostel is dedicated to girls. Some of the facilities offered at the hostels are mentioned below:

Maitreyi Hostel consists of 5 floors with 373 girls residing on the basis of double and triple sharing.
Sandipani Hostel has a total of 683 boys on 11 floors.
A Night Mess facility on the ground floor of the Sandipani Building available from 10.00 p.m to 3.00 a.m. for students and guests on a payment basis.
Network Printer is available in the reception area of the ground floor of the Maitreyi Building.
Cleanliness is ensured through professionally trained housekeeping staff.
Laundry Service is available for all on a payment basis.
Gymkhana is available to all resident students on the ground floor of the Sandipani building apart from the open gym on the campus. The in-house gym is on a payment basis.
Recreation Room with LED TV

Fully equipped Satellite Medical Centre, managed by Somaiya Hospital, located on the ground floor of Maitreyi Hostel Building.
Fire Safety and Smoke detectors are installed in Sandipani and Maitreyi Hostel.

Medical Facilities in Hostels

Well-equipped Satellite Medical Centre is located in the Maitreyi Building Ground Floor, along with an equipped ambulance.
Highly trained and experienced medical staff is available on the campus 24X7
Regular medical check-ups of students are done to assure that they are physically and mentally fit for the rigours of the course
A medical Counselor is available at the Satellite Centre for counselling and mentoring.

Sports Facilities in Hostels

Indoor Games- Table Tennis, Carrom, Badminton, Chess, Foosball, Squash Court and Meditation Hall.
Outdoor Games- Volleyball, Badminton, Football, Open Gym, Running Tracks, and Open Chess Board.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The eligibility criteria for my course was the candidate should have cleared HSC And SSC level. There was no entrance exams, it was purely merit based . The cutoffs were 60% onwards.
