Reasi is situated at a distance of 20 kms from Katra Railway Station (linking rest of the country) which is the base camp town of Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine. The area bounds in places of religious tourism for devotees namely Mata Vaishno Devi, ancient Kalka Mata Temple, ancient Lord Shiva Mahadev Temple, the famous Shiv Khouri cave; the abode of Lord Shiva and Bawa Bidda.
Reasi is Nestled in the Trikuta hills, with its grandeur and lush greenery all around, Shri Vaishno Devi College of Education is situated in the historical town of Reasi, the birth place of late Maharaja Partap Singh. Blessed and protected on its periphery by gods & goddesses, the area stands unique with its pollution free atmosphere and calm and serene environments inculcating habit of keen observation, critical appreciation, analysis and synthesis leading to objective thought process.
There is the Temple of Bawa Jitto at Aghar Jitto for whom word was more sacred than his life and Dera Bawa Banda Bairagi, the historical shrine of warrior saint Madhov Das Bairagi (a staunch devout of Guru Gobind Singh Ji) who laid down his life for the protection of Sikhism which merits to be mentioned here. Bhim Garh fort is another historical place of such attraction. Furthermore, there are many sight seeing spots like Baba Dhansar, Siar Baba, Soola spring and the famous Salal Dam generating 690 MW of hydro power besides many other beautiful natural fresh water springs. The entire route to Reasi is embellished with breathtaking scenic beauty. The journey offers a spiritual aura and a quest for more and more knowledge.
The college is recognized by the J&K Government, and is affiliated to the University of Jammu. The College offers a professional course in education leading to the B.Ed degree of University of Jammu.
National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) has certified vide its circular No. 49/21/2005/NCTE(N&S) dated 31st May 2007 that any candidate obtaining degree from University of Jammu shall be eligible for employment in Central Govt. and other states. Year of last accreditation is 2008 with rating IEQA
Candidates must have passed Bachelor's Degree Examination (under 10+2+3 or 10+2+2/10+1+3 pattern) from the University of Jammu or any other statutory University in India registered with the Association of Indian Universities and have secured at least 45% (44.5% is treated as 45%) of the aggregate marks in the qualifying examination in case of general category and 40% (39.5% is treated as 40%) in case of reserved categories (as specified in admission brochure available on University website
