With school-like restrictions and the need for more resourceful professors, Parul University is an expensive hang-out place with unmotivated students around. There are better options for students who wish to improve their education. Studying at Parul University, Gujarat, is like paying an organization to self-prepare for the course, which wastes time and money. 

Inside the luxurious and fancy infrastructure are disappointed and unhappy students who struggle to gain knowledge and exposure to the real world or those trying to drown their sorrows in different vices.

Parul University is an ideal place to spend money and engage in different fun activities. Even the professors who work at the university do not recommend to students aspiring to obtain quality education. The university has IIT and NIT graduates on the faculty team. Still, they are burdened with non-teaching jobs like clerical and administrative, leaving no time to focus on the curriculum.

Courses Offered by Parul University

Students have a wide range of career options at Parul University. They are provided with diplomas, undergraduate and postgraduate—honors, and dual degree programs in a variety of fields. However, the fees for each program are more than that of other quality universities. Hence, students are advised to think twice before they get enticed to join the university.

In addition to the programs mentioned above in fancy fields, Parul University has introduced Dual Degree programs, which are diploma and PG-D courses in different areas.

Although the university offers a wide variety of fancy programs, the quality of education is very questionable. Their only intention is to squeeze money from the students who fall into the trap of these fancy names. Numerous fines yielded from the students, giving them no room to experience a proper college life. 

In addition, a compulsory attendance requirement causes students to waste their time attending pointless lectures instead of utilizing the time to prepare themselves for the exams. The university has attractive yet non-beneficial facilities due to less maintenance and performance.

Many a time the university has misinformed at the time of admission, which convinces the students to join the university. It is recommended that students make wise decisions based on strong research among the past graduates of the university. 

Diverse Campus

Students from different parts of the world are part of the university, which adds to the diversity of the campus. Besides, the university is partnered with global universities through which student exchange programs are held.

Over-Burdened But Under-Paid Faculties

As mentioned before, Parul University has several highly qualified professors who have completed their education at prestigious institutes like IITs and NITs. However, the university fails to utilize its faculties for the right reasons, making it difficult for the professors to stay there for a long time. They are held up with clerical and managerial jobs, which leave them too exhausted to provide quality education to their students. 

The faculty members are paid much less than they deserve. They are made to work on matters outside their job description with an insulting amount as salary. Neither the university respects their education nor values their time and efforts, which leads to frequent resignations.

A prime example of how the faculties are treated is that during COVID pandemic lockdowns, the teachers were only paid 60% of their salary because they worked from home. Even after forcing students to pay the full fees, the teachers were underpaid when income was at stake.

Apart from the low salary, the professors are constantly harassed with threats of salary cuts, even for the smallest of mistakes. In short, this university's students and teachers gain nothing but financial and mental traumas.

Futile Facilities

Parul University is very appealing in terms of the life it portrays with its extravagant events and facilities. This university is the place to flush out money to have a good time and not secure a successful career. The university’s official website is carefully curated to attract students with unbelievable events and concerts.

The university conducts high-spirited cultural and technical events through which students have platforms to showcase their skills and talents. Students have the opportunity to pursue extra-curricular activities. They also run alluring music concerts and EDM parties, which are obviously what the students go to college for. The university offers everything the youngsters want but nothing they need. 

Parul University has over 150 acres of land, more than 100 academic blocks, and interesting facilities. They have included smart classrooms with air-conditioning to provide interactive learning experiences in a comfortable environment. The university has installed updated computer systems with LCD projectors in all the classrooms.

The university has a large, traditional library and a digital library, with over lakhs of books, journals, and other study materials. The university infrastructure consists of a book bank system in the library, which allows the students to borrow textbooks per academic semester/year.

“Elite” Hostels

Parul University houses over 10,000 students by providing them with well-furnished rooms and other necessities. The hostels have WiFi facilities and power backup with well-trained security officials and wardens. 

Nonetheless, the freedom in these hostels is different for girls and boys. The narrow-minded securities mistreat the girls seen with boys, giving them no chance to question their assumptions and decisions. 

The fee to be paid for the hostel facilities is higher than most hostels, with no guarantee of refunds in case of expulsion. The university has imposed fines for unnecessary reasons. Apart from this, the students are restricted from moving around the campus, which is falsely advertised through their promotional videos.

Although they have bragged about their laboratory infrastructure having various updated facilities for different departments, the labs need to be better equipped with damaged equipment with low maintenance, especially the laboratories for Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering programs.

Other Facilities

The university infrastructure includes several other facilities for sports and recreation activities and medical emergencies. The university gym is said to be overtly crowded all the time, and the students are allowed only 1 hour to use the facilities. Additionally, students are expected to pay to use the swimming pool available on the campus.

The university cafeteria is impressive with the availability of multiple types of food items and outlets. Students can hang out with their friends in the garden seating arrangements around the canteens. 

The other facilities in the university infrastructure comprise medical, transportation, and sports facilities. They have included a merchandise store for the students to buy personalized goods, another money-making tactic of the university.

The university has promising safety and security measures, preventing students from ragging.

University Rankings & Accreditations 

Parul University has NAAC accreditation of A++ grade with other breakthroughs, which include the following.

• NIRF has included the university in its All India Top 200 University Ranking list.
• The Ministry of Education for Innovation Achievements under ARIIA has ranked the university among India's Top 50 Private Universities.
• NABL has accredited the university for its Clinical Research Labs.
• As per the GSIRF Government of Gujarat rating among the Top Engineering Institutes, the university has obtained 4/5 stars.
• DSIR has recognized Parul University as a Centre of Research for Development.

Lack of Placement Opportunities

Although the university advertises assured career opportunities, the students who graduate from the university are offered little to zero jobs. They do not train their students for the professional fields, which is essential for freshers to enter the outside world. 

The only career options available are clerical or sales jobs with very low salaries. Students who have spent so much money on gaining these degrees are offered jobs through placements with wages less than INR 14,000. On rare occasions, 1 in a thousand students get job offers paying INR 23,000. 

According to the reviews on online platforms, students aspiring to be employed by top companies with handsome salaries must not join this university, especially for the Engineering programs.

Expensive Education

The average fees quoted for different programs offered by the university do not suit the quality of education they provide. In addition to the fees, students are forced to pay for different reasons as fines or events.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, students were forced to pay the full fees without considering their economic conditions. Students who belong to financially backward families struggle to pay the fees. If they failed to do so, their course would be stopped abruptly.

Overall Impression

Based on the feedback from the students and faculty members, joining Parul University is similar to falling into an educational trap. Aspirants must meet a minimum number of students and experts before they take admission to the university.

Nevertheless, all universities have pros and cons, and the following are the ones for Parul University.
