“Students gain all sorts of knowledge from the university, except for the most important one, academical knowledge. If all the outside noise can be cut out to study by oneself and have money to spend, NIMS University is a good place for higher education.”

NIMS University, located in Jaipur, Rajasthan, has failed to provide a safe environment and curb the growing negative activities within the campus. Although they offer a plethora of programs, only MBBS programs have higher quality education and faculty members. 

The faculty and staff members are least bothered by the academics, combined with a money-minded management. This is not the place for those who intend to gain proper education and pursue a successful career in the field of their choice. 

On various online reviews in search portals, past students have said that taking admission to NIMS University was the worst decision they made, as it costed them tonnes of money and time. The university management refuses to listen to their students and provide below par academics. But they are very quick to yield fines from the students for petty issues.

Unless they have no other choice or backup plan, students are not recommended to join the university. If the only intention is to only get a sub par degree and have alot of money to spend, it is the best place.

Plethora of Courses

NIMS University offers numerous programs in undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and doctorate levels. Additionally, the university also offers integrated programs for certain disciplines. The prominent fields in which different programs are available in the university are listed below.

Among the fields mentioned above, the Medical Sciences department is the most popular based on the faculties and curriculum. However, the recognition received for these programs have been questionable as the educational organizations have not accredited few of these programs. Apart from MBBS course, the university offers various specializations in DM/MCH and MD/MS programs such as follows. The institute also offers medical services in different departments that help students gain practical experience as they learn.

Alongside professional courses, the university also has diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, integrated and doctorate programs offered through the School of Business.

Mixture of Quality in Faculty

As there are multiple departments in the university, the quality of the faculty members vary from courses to courses. For instance, according to online organic reviews of MBBS and B.Tech students, the faculty members are of great value who impart knowledge and are always willing to help those in need. Whereas, certain departments do not have educated or experienced faculty, like Psychology programs, thus lacking on the academic grounds.

There have been incidents where MBBS students were asked to teach BPT students due to the lack of teachers for the subjects. In addition to the less number of teachers, the highly qualified professors are engaged with the clerical or administrative work, which leaves them no time to even complete the syllabus. This leads to speeding up the process, and the students are forced to understand concepts through self-study.

Even though the university yields a lot of money from the students, the faculty members are severely underpaid, which causes the high quality professors to leave the university. Overall, the place is not right for those students who require proper teaching and clearing of doubts through their professors. Apart from the above mentioned issues, the professors have been accused of indulging in substance use or engaging with students inappropriately.

Extravagant Infrastructure

NIMS University has an amazing infrastructure that makes all of its students fall in love. The university is spread across 250 acres of area, with all the required academic and residential facilities available inside the campus. Each department has separate buildings that are modern yet classic. The campus has around the clock security personnel, with a large courtyard.

The classrooms at the university are well-equipped with the latest technology for audio-visual presentations, which offers an interactive environment. Different classrooms are furnished to accommodate students based on the strength in each course.

The laboratories at the university are equipped with modern technologies and instruments, especially the ones for Engineering and Medical programs. The infrastructure also includes updated computer labs for other programs. Students have access to all the latest software and technical systems to enhance their practical learning experience. The labs are spacious enough to accommodate large groups of students.

The university has provided separate libraries for each department, which are stocked with books based on the field of study. This makes it convenient for the students as well as the teachers to access the subject-related resources easily. The issuing and returning of books is fully automated using the management software. 

Hostel Facilities

The university campus has residential facilities for both boys and girls. The hostels are designed to provide the students with personal space. Each hostel has units with 3 to 4 private rooms in a single unit, along with a common room. Television sets are available in the air-conditioned rooms. 

All students have access to internet and pantry facilities. There is power back up and unlimited safe water supply. The rooms are all well-furnished, with additional spaces for visitors and guests. The hostels have separate cafeterias and mess that provide four meals per day. The students are served healthy food in a hygiene dining area. There is also a good measure of security inside the hostel premises making it a safe and secure place to live.

Students, especially hostelers have access to the well-equipped fitness centre provided inside the campus. The university infrastructure includes sports facilities for both indoor and outdoor activities. The sports and fitness facilities available at the campus are listed below.

The campus has a multi-cuisine restaurant where multiple options are available. The university also has a food court with different food chains and stalls. The ambience of the restaurant and food court allows the staff and students to rest and spend time with their peers.

The university has several other fancy services and facilities for the convenience of its students. In other words, the students need not exit the university campus for any necessities. These facilities include the following.

Diverse & Inclusive Campus

The university ensures that equal opportunities are given to all gender students, regardless of their backgrounds. All students are treated as equals here. Many students from different culture are also part of the campus. In addition, international students from countries like Australia are also part of the student crowd.

Dress Code

The university does not have a set uniform for its students. However, each institute has a separate dress code, for example, the Management students are expected to wear formal and the Medical students must wear their courts on campus. Other students are allowed to wear business casuals, which is appropriate.

Gold-Plated Placements

The students have mentioned the lack of placement opportunities available through the university. The management claims to have the following recruiters participating in the placement drive. However, only a handful of students get good jobs with decent packages, apart from the Engineering and Medical students.

Overall Impression of NIMS University

Apart from the professional courses like MBBS and B.Tech programs, the university is not recommended by the students due to its lack of faculties and proper pedagogy. It is not for students who seek good education in a supportive environment, and good placement opportunities. The pros and cons of studying at NIMS University are as follows.
