Students aids
Financial aid to students comprises stipend given to S.C,/S.T students, exemption from payment of university examination fees to various categories of students and a number of scholarships like national merit, university merit etc. and freeships to students belonging to SC/ST, OBC, SEBC, KPCR, Lakshadweep, blind, PH and fishermen.
Freeships
- The different welfare schemes for the students are
- Though minimum percentage of marks prescribed for admission to M.A and M.Sc in general is 45 and 55 respectively, the minimum percentage in the case of SC/ST students is a pass.
- Physically Challenged candidates (50 percent permanent disability) are permitted a concession of 5% of the maximum marks relaxed from the minimum marks required for admission to PG courses.
- The unfilled seats for S.C candidates will be filled by admitting ST candidates and vice versa.
- Educational concessions and reservation benefits allowed to SC/ ST students will be extended to the children born of inter caste marriages in which either the father or mother belongs to SC or ST.
- Educational concessions and reservation benefits allowed to backward communities will be extended to the children born of inter caste marriages in which either the father or mother belongs to BC.
- Exemption from payment of examination fee will be allowed to SC, ST, OEC categories and blind students. This exemption is extended to their second consecutive chance as well.
- Do not join or work for any organization outside the college without the written permission of the Principal
- Students belonging to SC/ST, OEC are exempted from payment of Caution Deposit.
Fee Concession
Students belonging to SC/ST, OEC and converts from SC/ST are eligible for full fee concession, lump sum grants for purchase of books, actual boarding and lodging charges in collegiate hostels, or other government hostels as monthly stipend at the rate fixed by the Government from time to time.
Poor students of other backward communities of Kerala are eligible for full fee concessions [item 35 18(i)]
Educational Concessions To Blind Students
- Exemption from tuition fee and all kinds of fees such as library fee athletic fee, examination fee etc.
- Free boarding and lodging in college hostels.
- An amount will be given to each student for the purchase of college requisites.
- Times the actual expenses for the journeys from the home of the blind student to the college and back once a year will be given
Scholarships
- University Cultural scholarships: - The scholarship is awarded to the students who have won I or II position in individual items in the Uni versity/Inter-uni versity, Youth Festivals during the previous year. The rate of scholarship is Rs.200/- per mensem for 10 months the annual family income of the students does not exceed Rs.25000/-
- Muslim/Nadar Qirls students Scholarships: - The girls students in these community "whose annual income does not exceed Rs.18000/-are eligible for the scholarship. The rate of scholarships is Rs.125/-per annum
- Scholarship for physically handicapped students: - The physically handicapped students who have secured 40% marks in the qualifying examination are eligible for this scholarship. The annual family income should not exceed rs.24000/-.
- Thiruvithamkoor Kshethra Pravesana Vilambara Smaraka Scholarship: - S.C., S.T. Students who secured 50% of marks for S.S.L.C./40% for others are eligible for the scholarship. The rates for the scholarship are Rs.600/-, Rs.450/-, Rs.400/-, and Rs.350/-.
- University Merit Scholarships: - Students who have secured. 495 or more, out of 900 for P.D.C., 60% or more marks in BSc and 50% or more for B.A are eligible for the scholarships.
- National merit Scholarships:- Students who have secured 522 or more marks for S.S.L.C. examination can apply for this scholarship
- Merit Scholarship for children of school teachers:- The scholarships are open to all working school teachers of recognized pre-primary and secondary school teachers employed in the institution for the handicapped civilian teachers of the training schools or colleges whose status is that of Secondary School or Higher Secondary School Teachers are eligible. The students should secure 60% or more marks in the qualifying examination. The income limit is Rs, 20000/-per annum.
- Kerala State Government Merit Scholarships:- The students who have secured 50% or above marks in the qualifying examination are eligible for this award. The rate of scholarship for I D.C is Rs625?-and for I P.G. is Rs.750/-.The annual income should not exceed Rs.10000/- for I D.C. and Rs.12000/- for I P.G. The D.C students applied for the scholarship should have secured 50% or more marks in aggregate and the
- Sanskrit Scholarship: - The award is distributed for the students who have secured 50% or more marks in Sanskrit for the qualifying examination.
- Sports Scholarship: - Sports scholarships are awarded to select sportsmen and women studying in colleges under MG university
- National Loan Scholarships:- Given to Indian nationals for all courses after matriculation. Leading to I DC, post graduates and for post MA/ MSc stages. Those who gain 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination are eligible. Income limit Rs.25000/- for under graduates. Others-no income limit. Students who get scholarships/stipend under any other scheme are not eligible.
- Forms of applications may be obtained from the director of collegiate education on payment of Rs.2/-.
