Modern techniques of food presentation form the core of this skill oriented course. Knowledge about Hygiene and Nutrition is also imparted to students through extensive classroom coaching. In addition, participation in various food festivals, exhibitions and functions provide valuable exposure to students also. Demonstration and practical training are carried out in different kitchens such as Basic Training Kitchen, Quantity Food Kitchen and Advanced Training Kitchen.
Bakery & Confectionery
Bakery and confectionery is another important skill development area which forms an integral part of food production operations. Students are given practical training on handling modern equipment and use of quality ingredients to produce delicious desserts, bread, different rolls, cookies, cakes etc.
Food & Beverage Service
Students are trained in the art and skill of serving food & beverages, in combination with social etiquettes. The training is usually carried out in the training restaurant where practicals are carried out.
This department provides training in room functions and guest relations to students. Also, personality development activities are carried out with the help of role plays in the reception of the front office lab. Situation handling forms an important aspect of this training.
This department involves skill development in different sections such as flower arrangement, interior decoration and cleaning operation. Upkeep and decoration of hotels is the main activity of this department. A hand on experience is provided to students through practicals conducted at model guest rooms and laundry.
The Institute has a well-equipped modern computer lab having the latest technology software and hardware. All practical training related to computer applications is carried out here for the students.
The Institute Library is well equipped with text books of all the subjects of all courses and reference books on various topics. In addition there are general and trade journals to encourage the reading habits of the students in the library. Varieties of skill oriented audio –visual training cassettes from educational Institute (AH&MA) relating to the operational aspects of each outlet of a hotel and general topics are provided to enhance the overall interest of the students.
The Institute has boys hostel as well as girls hostel which can accommodate 60 students. It includes rooms on sharing basis and Mess facility for food.
