IIM Raipur is among the relatively newer IIMs set up to meet the ever-increasing demand for competent managers in the enormous corporate world. Since its inception, it has remained steadfast in its mission to train and groom capable managers who are ready to take on the world. 

Skimming through the students’ organic reviews online on various portals, it is evident that students are delighted with IIM Raipur. Barely are there any complaints from them. Of all the praises that the students have noted, starting from the faculties, infrastructure, placements, and many more, what strikes the most is the institution’s endeavour to collaborate with various educational institutions around the world. Achieving such a feat opens doors to opportunities for the students. Among these opportunities, the most prominent is the Student Exchange Program.

Top-grade Academics

Aligning with all IIMs in the country, IIM Raipur imparts the only top-quality education. It ensures that newer topics are integrated into the course curriculum along with new subjects as well. The course structure is regularly reviewed and revised to remove any outdated content. Moreover, the course coordinators are constantly in touch with industry experts to track any significant developments or trends that can be taught to the students to add value. 

IIMR offers postgraduate and doctoral programs to the students. Its most popular programs are the Post Graduate (PGP) and the Executive Post Graduate (ePGP). Each of the programs has a course objective that it aims to deliver till the completion of the course. The programs have further specialisations and electives that the students can choose based on their choices and interests.

In a short span of 2 years, students have to read a mammoth amount of information. This can range from regular textbooks, critical readings, additional research papers, and many more viable resources. On top of that, the pupils regularly read and interact with their peers and industry professionals to imbibe knowledge that would give them an edge over their competitors.

When it comes to course fees, IIM Raipur follows in the footsteps of its counterparts. Because of its course quality, hi-tech infrastructure, industry connections, and guaranteed placements, the course cost is considerably higher. For its flagship course, PGP, the course fee is approximately INR 15,00,000. Similarly, for a Ph.D. the course fees can be above INR 8,00,000.

Such high course fees are unaffordable to many deserving students. Hence, to counter this, the institution offers many scholarships to ease the financial burden. Furthermore, loans are easily available to students, and IIMR provides all the support needed to secure the loans.

Creme De La Creme Faculties

The professors at IIM Raipur are the crux of the education system. As much as the students are bright and enthusiastic, the faculty members are equally dedicated and keen on helping them be their best in their academic and professional lives. The professors possess a high level of qualification and experience. They are also actively involved in research, thereby helping to raise the standard of education.

Many of the faculties have published their research works in renowned journals, publications, etc. The faculty members are often invited to talk shows, seminars, and conferences worldwide because of the expertise they hold in a particular subject. 

Each class lecture is a mix of case studies, simulation exercises, role play, business games, group discussions, industry-based projects, and self-conceptualisation. In addition to this, frequent field or industrial visits are arranged for the students to witness, learn, and grow in real life. 

As the faculties have a good network all over the world. This, in turn, helps the institution and students massively in various aspects of academic and professional life. Furthermore, the professors also act as mentors to the students guiding and course-correcting them at every step of the way.

Hi-Tech Infrastructure

Along with top-quality education, IIM Raipur also has built a state-of-the-art infrastructure. In all of its facilities, a global sense can be observed. The classrooms are spacious and built with an auditorium seating arrangement. Such seating arrangement encourages peer-to-peer interaction. Moreover, the classes are equipped with projectors, smart classes, audio-visual equipment, green boards, and many other such devices that make the lectures engaging. All of the classrooms have air-conditioning systems and comfortable seating arrangements. 

The library at IIMR holds a spell-binding collection of books, periodicals, journals, research papers, newspapers, magazines, and many more. In addition to the physical copies, students can also access the resources remotely through the OPAC system. The library is open from 9 AM to 10 PM on weekdays and from 9:30 AM to 6 PM on weekends. 

The campus has an expansive sports facility. It includes Cricket, Badminton, Volleyball, Football, Gymnasium, and many other options. The sports facilities are built with modern technologies and are well-maintained. The campus also has canteen facilities, open 24 hours a day. It serves a variety of food. However, when it comes to the quality of food, it is a mixed bag.

In contrast, the majority of the students have expressed their satisfaction with the quality of food on various online platforms. Many are disappointed by the same. In addition to all these, other facilities, such as banks, auditoriums, medical facilities, etc., are also available at the student’s disposal. The campus perimeter and inside the building as well, CCTV cameras are installed to keep a check on any mishap or unwanted activities. Thus ensuring a safe and secure environment for everyone.

Plush Hostel Facilities

IIM Raipur provides of a kind hostel facility to the students. It is a residential campus; hence, everyone must have hostel facilities. The accommodation is available to men and women, and each room is a single sharing room. Because of this, students get their peace of mind and can concentrate well. The rooms come furnished and are equipped with a cooling system, bed, chair, table, wardrobe, etc.

The hostel is situated in a large area. The entire premises are well maintained, clean, and hygienic. Moreover, the area is well-secured and safe with CCTV surveillance.  The hostel has a dedicated mess facility that provides good and nutritious food. The hostel charges approximately INR 1,26,000 for two years. This might be expensive for many students. 

Exceptional Placement Record

What makes IIMs stand true to its brand name is its exceptional placement record. And IIM Raipur is no exception in that case. In 2023 alone, more than 100 companies visited the campus for the recruitment process. The companies are from various industries, such as BFSI, FMCG, IT, Strategy and Consulting, Manufacturing, etc. Thus giving various options for the students. The highest salary package offered in 2023 was INR 67.60 LPA, while the average package was INR 21.04 LPA. 

The placement cell trains the students in various skill sets to enhance their professional development. The lessons from these training sessions remain lifelong with the students. The cell also actively seeks out and appraises the companies. However, companies are themselves highly interested in recruiting from IIMR as they are aware of the rigour and sincerity of the students.

Exciting Campus Life

Life at IIMR is full of surprises. Every day is unique, and students experience a range of activities and emotions throughout their stay. Cultural activities, sports events, seminars, conferences, talk shows, debates, and student club activities are all part of daily life. As much as academic life is entirely of rigour, campus life is also enjoyable and thrilling.

Students are encouraged to participate in as many extracurricular activities as possible. Not only does it add to their professional development, but it also hones interpersonal skills. 

The college also celebrates its annual cultural festival, which sees participation from various other colleges and universities. Since students from all over the country are admitted, the campus is entirely of a diverse set of students. Which further enriches the college experience. Moreover, due to international exchange programs, students visit other universities located in various countries and experience different cultures.

Many international exchange students also study at IIM Raipur. Thus, a healthy balance of exchange of cultures is maintained. The ratio of male to female students, though it can be improved, is better than many other educational institutions.

Rules and Dress Code

IIM Raipur has implemented strict rules on many occasions, especially in academics. The students must strictly maintain an 80% attendance record. Moreover, the management follows a set evaluation matrix and emphasises maintaining academic discipline. Every student is handed out the manual that outlines the rules and regulations of the institution that must be followed to maintain decorum. 

Students are required to wear business casual attire or dress informally. There is no strict implementation of a dress code or uniform except in times of placement or other formal occasions.

Is IIM Raipur Worth it?

Getting selected for IIMR is a matter of prestige. The process to get selected is equally daunting. But once they get admitted, a world of opportunities awaits them. They are groomed to be their best in the field and have unmatched knowledge. The focus is not only on education but also on the overall development of the students. The faculties are dedicated and possess knowledge and experience that help the students immensely. 

The most fulfilling part of campus life is its plethora of activities that the students enjoy, coupled with exceptional placement results. Overall, though IIM Raipur is yet to reach the calibre of the top 3 IIMs, it indeed provides the most wholesome and satisfying experience and results to the students.
