About Dr L Bullayya College, [DLBC] Vishakhapatnam
Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya College, Visakhapatnam was started in 1973 by 'The Society for Collegiate Education'. The latter found its origin in the minds of some prominent citizens of the city who were deeply interested in higher education. Appropriately they named the college in honour of Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya who was the then Vice Chancellor of the Andhra University.A ten-acre plot was acquired in the heart of the city and necessary buildings were constructed . The student strength has grown to around 3000, one-third of which are girls. The college is affiliated to the Andhra University.
Four years later the society found the need to establish a seperate institution for Intermediate Education and so founded Dr. Lanakapalli Bullayya Junoir college in August 1978.
Eleven PG programmes are also offered. They are: MCA, MBA, M.A. /M. Sc Mathematics, M. A. English, and M. Sc. programmes in Computer Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Electronics, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physics and Botany.
College of Education was established in the Academic year 2002-03 with B Ed course.
From the academic year 2010-2011 the Management has taken all efforts to start an Engineering college exclusively for women with BE/ BTech program with Computer Science and Engineering , Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Civil Engineering specialisations with total 240 intake.
Vision
The college works with a vision of serving the young generation with a tool called education to help them serve the society as value added citizens. It inculcates values and shapes their personalities for the cause of National Development.
Mission
The college endeavours to promote higher education and provides quality and value based academic instruction for a worthy tomorrow. It promotes institutions of higher education and offers useful and relevant study programmes and also creates the perfect academic environment.
