Department of Hotel Management and Catering Science

In order to provide necessary opportunities and exposure to develop a wide-ranging and critical understanding of personal skills, essential in hotel management and hotel industry, we have a Model Restaurant, a Demo Bed Room, a Guest room with star hotel facilities, Training Kitchens and Laboratories, provided with the state-of-the-art equipment and gadgets.

Advanced Training Kitchen and Bakery

In this kitchen, students are practically taught to prepare a variety of Continental and Intercontinental cuisines such as French, Japanese, Chinese, Arabian, etc. With the emphasis on hygiene, the modern training kitchens are fitted with stainless steel work - benches as well as multiple hi-tech burners that make sure that every student gets ‘hands-on’ training and experience. The kitchens are connected to a specially erected LPG Bank for uninterrupted supply of gas. Other well- equipped laboratories ensure scientific and precise learning.

A Model Training Restaurant

For Practical Training, the college runs a Model Restaurant for students. Individual lockers are provided separately for boys and girls.

A Model Star Class Bedroom

A well –furnished modern Five-star bed room is at the disposal of the students to get themselves acquainted with the facilities and service requirements of star hotels so that they prove efficient in house-keeping.

Career Counseling, Training and Placement

Regular training from the first year of study onwards is being imparted to students to motivate them and to get them trained in Star Hotels by a full-time special team of experts. A full-time career counselor under the guidance of the Principal is functioning to identify the opportunities and select right careers for the students. Campus interviews are being arranged for the third year students and the career counselor is always in touch with the prospective employers all over India and abroad. On the completion of the course, a wide range of job opportunities await the students to become Flight Pursers in Airlines ,Catering Officers, Chefs, Hotel/Resort Executives and Managers, Managers of Institutional Canteens, Lecturers in Colleges etc.

House Rules and Regulations

  • The medium of instruction is English.
  • Fee once paid will on no account be refunded. In case of students discontinuing studies with the institute, the full course fee should be cleared before NOC/TC is issued.
  • Student's ID card will be issued to all from the College, which the students should carry always in the college premises.
  • Uniform: All students of Management studies are required to attend the college in prescribed uniform.
  • No visitors or phone calls shall be entertained during class hours, except in exigencies. Message can be left at the office.
  • All outstanding dues should be settled by the students on or before the stipulated dates as specified by the College Authorities.
  • Fees or any other payment should be made to the College directly.
  • Industrial training is part of the curriculum, which the students shall have to attend, whenever they are sent to the hotels chosen by the College.
  • As part of the curriculum students have to take part in all indoor and outdoor catering functions directed by the management.
  • Students are responsible to uphold the name and goodwill of the College at hostel, training place or at any other social and public functions.
  • Students should submit the assignments, records and projects on time in the formats prescribed by the University / Professional Body and as directed by the Faculty members.
  • Certificates of the students, kept by the management will be handed over to the students only after the complete settlement of fee dues, if any, on the date of leaving.
  • The College holds no claim for bus, train and boat concessions.
  • Any legal dispute or litigation will be at Ernakulam jurisdiction.
  • A caution deposit of Rs. 1500/- has to be paid at the time of admission and the same is refundable on the completion of the course after deducting dues, if any.
  • Divine College of Management Studies reserves the right to add or delete the contents of this prospectus at any time.
  • The location and the premises for classes shall be decided by the College Authorities.

Faculty

We have a group of well qualified and dedicated teaching staff and visiting faculty with high level of experience. To assess the performance, Class tests are conducted regularly. Hotel Management Students are being sent to selected Five Star hotels for training for hands on exposure to the Industry. We also keep in constant contact with the classified hotels to learn more about the latest trends in the Industry, so that we are able to blend the same in our teaching and training.
