India is the most populous country in the world, which is also home to the most diverse social strata across the globe. Such diversity creates equally diverse social challenges that require much more than responsive public policy. In this context, the 2-year special program of MSc in Social Work at Chanakya University is designed to produce well-rounded professionals with a deep sense of social and civic responsibility who can understand and continuously address various social challenges. This program includes courses that prepare students through stimulating classroom experiences and enrich them with equally strong practicum components spread across all semesters. Social Science Research Methods is one of the major required courses in this program. The course helps the social work student to apply a scientific approach to the study of social problems when doing a thesis/research paper. The thesis experience makes the future social work professional not only compassionate and responsive but also see the problems of society with the right objectivity.
