BIMTECH, Greater Noida, has grown to be one of the most prominent MBA institutes in the country with a 100% placement record. However, students get a pinch in the pocket for the cost of education.

Considered to be one of the best private institutes for Management studies in the Delhi-NCR region, the reality of the Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) can be described as bittersweet. The campus boasts better-than-average infrastructure and facilities, experienced and qualified faculty, and a 100% placement record for the 2021-2023 cycle.

However, the cost of education at BIMTECH is relatively high compared to most other institutions of similar stature in the country, making it a difficult choice to study at the institute. To complete a 2-year course at BIMTECH, a student will set them back around INR 16-17 Lakhs.

As the average package received by candidates is 9 LPA, the ROI (Return on Investment) is low. Ex-students say that it is not worth spending such exorbitant amounts when the career prospects that are opened after graduation from the institute are only average.

Another aspect of the institute that students were critical of is that the institute is fully residential, meaning that all candidates must compulsorily stay at the campus hostels and pay the hostel and mess fees, which are high. Some rules inside the campus can be described as “orthodox,” and students find them restrictive at times.

Variety of Courses

BIMTECH offers 2 Year Post Graduate Diploma in Management and doctoral, which are AICTE and NBA-approved. The PGDM is the flagship course offered by the institute. The course structures and syllabus are updated yearly to meet industry standards and requirements. The pedagogy at the institute is focused on practical knowledge of the functioning of the industries instead of just academic knowledge.

The curriculum has been designed in such a way that the students can accumulate maximum knowledge within the course period. Exams are conducted regularly to test the students. This means that the students often find the course to be hectic.

Furthermore, the college offers certificate courses for students to upgrade their skill sets. Guest lectures from eminent industry professionals and conferences are often conducted for the benefit of the students. Moreover, BIMTECH has academic associations and collaboration with 64 foreign B Schools and universities and many professional bodies.

The Pride of BIMTECH- Faculty

The faculty at BIMTECH are experienced and knowledgeable. Several of the faculty members are alums from premier universities such as IIMs and IITs. The faculties have also experience being part of the industries, which allow them to impart practical knowledge to the students. The students find the faculty to be friendly, accessible, helpful and supportive in their academic and career development.

High Course Fees

Though BIMTECH offers all the modern amenities and facilities to students with great academic prospects, the program fees sit in the higher bracket for the students. The course fees can cost up to INR 4 lakhs. Since it is a reputed institute, students can avail of education loans easily.

High Placement Record

The placement cell - Centre for Corporate Relations - at the campus is supportive of the student’s needs when it comes to career prospects. Moreover, the college has a placement committee that is run by students under each of the departments.

The placement rate at BIMTECH for the academic year 2022-23 was 100%. The highest salary package that was offered to a student was INR 23.43 lakh. The students were able to start their careers in different sectors- Banking and Financial Services, education, IT & ITeS, Marketing and advertising and Retail.

It should be stated that, while quantitatively, the placement records in recent years are excellent, the quality of the placements is only average. The job profiles the students are offered are often not so desirable. As for summer internships during the course, the students have often found that they were able to find internships relatively easily.

A Vibrant and Verdant Campus

The BIMTECH Campus provides all the necessary infrastructure required for the students to learn and grow. The area of the campus cannot be described as large, although it meets the needs of the students.

The classrooms in the institute are air-conditioned, which is relieving for candidates in the scorching heat of Noida. The campus provides Wi-Fi connectivity to all its students. The campus and hostels are under 24x7 Security surveillance, ensuring the safety of the students.

Hostels and Mess - Modern and Comfortable

As the campus is fully residential, the students are provided with hostel facilities, which are modern and well-maintained. Some hostels are on campus and off campus. The female students are accommodated at the hostels on campus.

Regular Shuttle services are provided to and from the campus from the off-campus hostels. The hostel fees are INR 1,32,000 per year, and the mess charges are INR 70,200 per year.

The hostels are neatly maintained and provide ample space for students to study and socialise. The students are allotted between single and double sharing rooms at the sole discretion of the management. The campus does not provide accommodation for married couples.

Students find the rules and regulations inside the hostels to be strict. The students are to enter the hostels by 11:00 PM. The students staying at the on-campus hostels must enter the hostel by 10:00 PM.

The Mess facility is provided to students and is vegetarian only. Non-vegetarian food is against the code of conduct at the college. The students must adhere to the strict timings at the Mess. The food quality in the Mess is high, and there are often a lot of varieties available. The students themselves decide the Menu.

The hybrid library at BIMTECH, which is also known as the knowledge centre, is one of the highlights of the institute. The library provides the students, scholars, and faculty with the best collection of management books.

As part of the e-library, a varied collection of print and electronic resources, including books, journals, databases, CDs and DVDs, e-journals, reports, etc, are available to the students. The library has a two-floored reading room attached.

Being a Sports Enthusiast at BIMTECH

While being a student at BIMTECH, everyone will get access to different sports facilities provided on the campus and the hostels. BPL (Bimtech Premium League) and Liga D’ Bimtech are conducted by the clubs and conduits.

The college has badminton, volleyball, and basketball courts for students. Table tennis is available in the boy's hostels. A football ground, which doubles as a cricket ground, is also available in the boy's hostel RCI. Furthermore, cycles are provided inside the campus, which students usually ride in the evenings and after-dinner.

Wholesome Student Life

The student life at BIMTECH is great, according to most students. The student community is diverse and multicultural. The students hail from all parts of India, and a few international students are studying at the institute as well.

There are various Clubs and Conduits in the college for the students to join and take part in. Several events, some of which include exhilarating programs like DJ parties, are conducted throughout the academic year.

However, students reviews on search portals have indicated that they are disappointed at some of the rules on the campus and the hostels. Students have talked of instances of the management changing rules without consideration of the student’s opinions.

A rule that the students have difficulty with is that they are allowed only two days out a week and 2 nights out in a month, which can make the young minds feel like they’ve been jailed. Another aspect that the students find troublesome is the weekend classes.

The students at BIMTECH are expected to adhere to a strict formal dress code. Although these rules have been set to inculcate professionalism and discipline, some students may find it too restrictive. The pressures of academics can be high at times. Students may find themselves inundated with projects and assignments.

Diverse Student Community

To add to the student diversity at BIMTECH, the campus offers exchange programs in partnership with various universities abroad. Every student visits the campus from abroad as part of this program.

The institute also has reserved 5% of seats for students belonging to ESCS. ESCS stands for Economically and socially Challenged Students. This means that the students fall under the category of  SC/ST/OBC/EWS/ Minority Communities (Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Zoroastrians/Parsis & Jains.

Such measures are taken to bring social diversity. Such students are also given some additional weightage in the calculation of the merit score with the goal of diversifying the campus.

Final Review of BIMTECH

The BIMTECH, Greater Noida, posits a decent choice for students who wish to pursue a PG in Management. The fees for the courses are, however, high, and the hostel fees and the mess fees are also quite high.

If one is to ask if BIMTECH is worth it, then arguably, it is not so. However, students who are not left with many options and can afford the fee will get a better-than-average standard education and campus life at the institute.

Overall, the campus can be rated as higher than average in comparison to other management institutes. Some of the major pros and cons of the college can be found tabulated below:
