ARG college has been into education since long years ago offering all major courses like B.A. , B.B.M., B.COM., The central libraries have more then 45,000 of books covering all needs and are supported by several department libraries within each college.The Management course was introduced in the year 1973 -74 to meet the emerging needs of industry and commerce.The college is housed in a mega building of its own. It is accessible to students of urban as well as rural areas. The college is well equipped with good library. The college has highly qualified and experienced teaching staff.The very purpose and aim of the founders of Bapuji Educational Association was to provide education in various disciplined starting from nursery level to post graduation, professional courses and research programmes in all fields. At present BEA runs 54 institutions.
ARG college of arts and Commerce was bifurcated from DRM Science college in the year 1973 with a vision and forethought to provide extensive study opportunities in the field of arts, commerce and management to the aspiring students of local Davangere and the neighbor districts students in order to meet the socio economic and commercial needs of the society and also the areas.The college is named after the donor, Sri Ajjanpurada Rangappa Govindaswamy started functioning independently in the present building. In order to accommodate the growing needs of the students one new block was built by the management in the year 2000.
The college has been functioning by strictly adhering to it’s vision ad forethought to satisfy the needs of both students and parents and other stakeholders of the society and thereby it has earned a very good reputation both in the government and society also.
In order to keep pace with the changing times, the institution had undergone voluntarily for assessment for assessment and accredition by NAAC in Aug, 2004 and got ‘B’ Grade.

This oft-quoted saying depicted in the logo is taken from one of the vachanas or Basavanna; a social reformer of the 12th century, Karnataka. It emphasizes the face that the adobe of god or the emancipation in life can be attained by doing the assigned work attain one’s own goal in any field. Thereby total satisfaction or content men can be attained.
Higher education is one such field where continuous effort and concentration are required. The logo of the college symbolized the continuous effort field. The upper part of the logo represents art and architecture which requires concentration, dedicated and perfection in work. the lower part of the logo represents industry, commerce and trade that require hectic activities, skills and knowledge. So, higher education intends to serve for the development of the community through art, architecture, knowledge and skills. Hence, the logo of the college obviously intends to meet the educational needs of the region and community as a whole.

The college has good library having more than 45000/- Books written by Indian & Foreign Authors There is a separate wing in the library wherein journals, periodicals, Magazines, Dailies, etc., are kept for the benefit of students and faculty members.
The Book Bank Scheme funded by University Grant Commission, NEW-DELHI is also provided in the library for the benefit of poor and deserving students.
