SLAT Eligibility Criteria 2026: Academic Qualification, Age Limit

- SLAT 2026 Educational Mandate: If you are appearing for the SLAT 2026 you should pass the Class 12th board examination. Those who are appearing for the 12th exam are also eligible, on condition that they must submit their relevant certificates or documents during admission.
- Percentage Requirements: General category ones need to score at least 45% marks; whereas reserved categories like Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe must get a minimum of 40% in 12th.
- Age Limit: According to SIU, there is no age limit for SLAT. All ages are eligible to take this legal exam.
SLAT Eligibility 2026 for Differently Abled Category
SIU reserves 3% of the total seats for persons with disabilities. This mandate is followed as per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Social Empowerment. Candidates with any of the following disabilities are eligible:

Those with disabilities applying for SLAT 2026 must select the appropriate disability type mentioned in the application form. They are also required to upload the Disability Certificate issued by the concerned medical officer. In addition, a Unique Disability ID needs to be uploaded during the application process.
Persons with disabilities must arrange their scribe, if required. The minimum qualification for a scribe is a 9th pass or appearing for the 10th. If any of you require a scribe, youmust write to the authority at info@slat-test.org, on or before November 30, 2025. As per the norm, those with disabilities will be given an additional 20 minutes to complete their paper.
SLAT Eligibility 2026 for Defence Category
As per the norms of the SIU’s UG law admission, there are 5% seats reserved for wards of defence personnel in the following programs of the SLS Pune:
- Bachelor of Arts & Bachelor of Laws B.A LL.B. (Hons.)
- Bachelor of Business Administration & Bachelor of Laws B.B.A LL.B. (Hons.)
Those opting for “wards of defence personnel” will be asked to submit the relevant documents at the time of the Personal Interview. In fact, candidates selected as wards of defence personnel for SLS Pune will be considered in the open category for other centres.
Now, who comes under the category of wards of defence personnel?
Here, defence personal means a person who is currently serving in the Army, Navy or Air Force. The children of retired defence personnel are also eligible to apply under this quota. The retired defence personnel are those who are ex-servicemen or who have died while serving the nation.
SLAT 2026 Reservation Criteria
SIU follows the reservation policy as mentioned in the UGC guideline 2006. The following reservation applies to all institutes under the University:

- With one month in hand, you should have a revision plan of all the sections. Give importance to high-weightage areas and revise them on a daily basis.
- Revise the legal concepts multiple times. This helps in recalling better during the exam.
- Analyse your mock performance and focus on your accuracy level.
- Focus on revising current events -be it general knowledge or current legal issues.
- Practice improving your reading skills by solving comprehension problems each day. Aim to speed up your reading skill and give not more than 6 to 7 minutes on reading passages.
