How Many Students Will Qualify for JEE Advanced?
According to the previous year's data, 11–13 lakh candidates appear every year for the JEE Main exam. Around 16–17% qualify for Advanced, i.e. top 250,000 qualifiers in JEE Main 2026 will be eligible for JEE Advanced.
Every year, lakhs of students appear for JEE Main, but only the top 2.5 lakh are allowed to sit for JEE Advanced. Out of these, the number of students who actually qualify is much lower. On average, only about one-fourth of those who write both papers manage to clear the cut-off. For example, in 2025, nearly 1.8 lakh students appeared for JEE Advanced, but only around 54,000 made it through. This has been the general trend over the years—while the number of eligible students remains fixed, the actual qualifiers vary slightly depending on the difficulty of the paper and the cut-off, which makes the exam extremely competitive.
The JEE Main results 2026 are an important announcement for you if you appeared for the JEE Main exam and want to pursue your career in the engineering and architecture fields. You should keep a close eye on official NTA sources for precise announcement dates, and be ready with your application number and login credentials to check and download your score cards.
