Kaushiki Gupta's Review on VIPS - Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies

The placement cell of the IT department in VIPS is as good as it goes. It has big brands like Les Transformations, NIIT, FIS Global, ABSOLUTDATA, NAGARRO, INFOSYS, etc to welcome graduating students at their door. Around 80% of the batch is placed to these companies and the salary ranges from 1.5 lac/ annum to 4 lac/ annum. The alumni network is massive and inspiring.

The infrastructure of the college is good enough with greenery, clean campus, air-conditioned classrooms, well-functioning labs, amazing libraries, etc. There is no hostel/ PG facility provided by the college; all those who wish to live in one have to arrange it by themselves. The canteen is good; clean and hygienic. The cost of one meal for a person is around 100-150 and it tastes good too. 

The admission into VIPS is purely based on the entrance exams held by the university itself (IPU-CET). I gave the IPU-CET for pursuing BCA and scored 286th rank. I was easily accepted into the college, where the cut-offs are pretty high and the admission for General Category ends at around 400th rank.

In my particular course, 5 classes are held daily from 8.20 am to 2.30 pm. Every lecture is for 50 mins. The teachers are helpful and an ample amount of projects and assignments are given to the students. The college experience is overall good with teachers being pretty involved and aiding to the needs of the students.

There is no facility available for a scholarship or any reduction in fees or options for paying in installments.

The student societies of VIPS are the best part of the college experience. There are both central societies and departmental societies. There are central societies for dance, music, art, theatre, anchoring, etc and departmental societies are unique to each school of study. In the IT department, there are cultural societies along with Technical societies for excellence in the course.
