Placements and Internships

3

When I was studying the placement scenario was really poor. In fact, most of the time, students had to go to Jaypee Noida for interviews and placements. This has however been improved now and many companies do turn up and give decent salaries for the start.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

3.5

The overall infrastructure is quite good. Hostels are better than you would find at most colleges and universities. The food in the mess is also quite good and there is a laundry facility also available for the students. So if the cost is not a problem hostels are quite good. Other facilities like labs etc are also very nice. The dept. Has fundings from DBT and DRDO so most of the high-end equipment are available in labs which the students are introduced to throughout the course.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

For admission into biotech, you don't have to give any entrance. It is given on the basis of your 12th board's marks. Generally, if you have around 65% marks and above you will be able to make it in the course

Academics and Faculty

3

Academics are quite good at JUIT. If you are someone who wants to gain knowledge this is a good place for you. Classes are taken seriously by the faculty and exams are conducted properly. Assignments are also given regularly. Overall the study environment is nice and classrooms are equipped with most modern amenities.

Fees and Scholarships

2.5

When I started my studies my course fee was 50000 INR and the hostel fee was 37500 per semester. This, however, was increased during the course period to 75000 per semester and hostel to 45000. This drastic increase in fee happened in between the course and was really a huge burden for most. Also, this university has no options for any kind of scholarship. Also, be ready to pay for a lot many things other than your course fee throughout the year like fest fund fresher fund and also for your own farewell once you are in the final year. Here you also have to pay extra money in case you have to give a supplementary exam for any subject. So consider this university if money is not a problem else you might end up with unnecessary financial burdens

Clubs and Associations

2.5

College life is quite dull as it is in the middle of a forest on top of a hill. The mesmerizing beauty of the campus is, however, amazing but that's all about it. There is nothing happening around the campus to do during weekends so it can get boring. However, you can always visit Shimla and solan which are about 30 KM from the campus. Other than that students also go for trips to Manali and many other stations of Himachal. The curricular activity is managed by JUIT Youth Club (JYC) which has various clubs like Cultural club, Photography, Literary club, etc which you can join according to your interest. Major events conducted are the annual fest (LeFiestus) Tech Fest (Murious) and Sports Fest (Parakram). These, however, have lost their quality and charm due to lack of support and funding by the university management. Other than all these small events at individual club level are also conducted throughout the year. The department of Biotech has its own club by the name of Synapse that also conducts various events throughout the year.
