College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are available on the campus for both boys and girls. There is one girl's hostel and three boys hostel. The mess dues per month are INR 1500. The PG's are available on the college campus. The food in the college canteen is good. The quality of the classrooms, labs, libraries, dining halls is good. Cleanliness and hygiene are maintained. The labs are equipped with new equipment. The library is quite huge and contains all sort of books. All the hostels and the classrooms are connected to Wi-Fi network.
Entrance Exams and Admissions
Eligibility criteria for B.Sc in Jorhat Institute of science and technology are that the student must have acquired minimum of 65% in their 12th boards with Maths as a compulsory subject. An entrance exam is held for selecting 60 students for the course per year. There are merit seats for OBC, ST and SC students 9 seats for each class.
Academics and Faculty
Classes start at 9:15 am to 3:00 pm. Each class is 45 minutes with a break from 1:25 pm to 2:15 pm. Midterm exams are held at the mid of the semester. Final examinations are held at the end of the semester. The faculty is very good. Overall studying in this college was really fruitful.
Fees and Scholarships
The fee is IN 7,000 in the odd semesters and INR 4000 in the even semesters. Scholarships are available for the students.
Clubs and Associations
There is a JIST women cell and electronic hobby club. The main event of JIST is Abeyaantrix. It also has events like college week and engineers day. The life in this college is quite good.
