Placements and Internships

  • I did 2 internships, the first I did was in PepsiCo R&D which was for 2 months in Gurgaon, it was a corporate internship and I worked on new product development and developed shelf-stable fruit and vegetable juice for Tropicana. 
  • The Second internship I did in CIIE IIM Ahmedabad for a startup company i.e. Karna Candy Pvt. Ltd which manufactures vegetarian gummy candy and marshmallows. 
  • The key companies at National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management are ITC, Nestle, Yes Bank, Parle, Pepsico, CocaCola, DS Group, Patanjali, Danone, Synthite, Givaudan, Doehler, FSSAI, Adani Wilmar, etc and much more.
  • The main job profiles or roles are manufacturing, R&D, operations, quality assurance and control, marketing, branding, regulatory, health and nutrition, compliance etc. 
  • The average salary is more than or approx Rs. 4 lakh pa and the highest salary was Rs. 14 lakh pa along with various foreign placements also occur.
  • For the batch 2012-2016, 75 to 80% students got placed and the others either opted out of placements or joined other colleges. 


College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

  • There are 4 hostels at National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management in total which are really huge and have double and single occupancy rooms.
  • The hostel fee is included in the semester fee itself( Rs. 5,000).
  • The hostels are so far the best you can find in any government college in India. There is regular cleaning facility 24 hours and the rooms are spacious with all room facilities.
  •  Being in NIFTEM it is mandatory to stay in the hostel. There is no option to stay outside the college.
  • There is a mess system which charges Rs. 2,800 per month. As you can see the college is of Food Technolgy hence you can expect the quality of food as well.
  • The classrooms are so far the best I have seen ever. The college has 100 seater lecture halls, 200 seater seminar halls for all studies.
  • The labs are world class and have all the highly advanced instruments for technical study and knowledge.
  • In NIFTEM you get to actually work on highly advanced and expensive lab instruments yourself for better learning.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

  • NIFTEM or National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management is one of a kind institute in this whole world. It is World's first university-based only on Food Tech and equivalent courses.
  • Eligibility is same as any other engineering college, you need to complete 12th standard or its equivalent from any Central or State Board, you need to appear in JEE MAIN and need to qualify for an appropriate rank. 
  • I gave JEE Mains back in 2013, and secured a rank of 79259 and got admission into this college.
  • Typically cutoffs are not very high, general cutoffs go around till Rs. 2 lakh.
  • NIFTEM is the first college in India that caters to industry needs, you study everything about food and huge companies like ITC, Nestle, Brittania, Parle, Pepsico, CocaCola, DS Group, Patanjali, Danone, etc are prominent recruiters.
  • Food Technology is ever growing the industry and it's in a growing phase in India right now.

Academics and Faculty

  • Class at National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management begins at 8.45 AM and ends at 5.50 PM along free classes and breaks as well.
  • NIFTEM lays a lot of emphasis on studies and classes. There are mandatory attendance and world-class faculty. You get an independent research environment, there are marks on regular assignments and surprise quizzes.
  • NIFTEM has state of the art lecture halls with all best audiovisual technologies for teaching along with biometric attendance system.
  • NIFTEM has the best professors you can find for Food Technology and management in India.
  • The overall experience is great, you might get the best experience of studying in NIFTEM
     

Fees and Scholarships

  • The course fee at National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management is Rs. 2,00,000 pa.
  • There is merit as well merit cum means scholarship being awarded to students every year.
  • Top 3 students get merit scholarship i.e. fee waiver for a complete year for getting highest grades.
  • Merit cum means scholarship is given to students having a nice CGPA and their parent's salary is less than Rs. 2.5 lakh pa. It is commonly awarded to 6 to 7 students.
  • NIFTEM has an easy loan facility. NIFTEM comes under SBI scholar's loan scheme(various IITs and NITs come under this scheme) wherein you have to pay a lesser percentage of interest than normal education loans without any collateral.
  • The loan facility is completely hassled free.

Clubs and Associations

  • NIFTEM has various societies catering to various roles in NIFTEM. The societies have their individual secretary, treasurer, President elected by society members.
  • The societies are also called NIFTEM GYMKHANA, the societies are Saarang(Cultural Society), Kalakriti(Fine Arts Society), Vyaktitva(Literary Society), NSL(Sports Society), Photography club, Food Society, Entrepreneurship Society and much more.
  • The main festivals are FOOD FEST also called FOOD ZILLA, Cultural Fest also called EDESIA, Sports Fest also called NIFTEM SPORTS LEAGUE, Literary Fest, International Conferences, INIZIO.
  • The college life is marvellous, I think the 4 years in NIFTEM are going to be my best 4 years in my life. I get to learn new things every day. I have learnt the technology involved in food processing. I have an exposure of going to student exchange program to the University of Saskatchewan in Canada on college expense.
  • I have had an experience of representing my college in IIM Ahmedabad. I have made international links for studies in abroad after B.Tech.
  • NIFTEM gave me an opportunity to publish my first research paper in an International Journal. NIFTEM has given me everything.

Placements & Internships : Considering placement, it was our first undergraduate batch passed out this year and campus performed considerably very good. Many MNCs like Givaudan had offered a package of 15LPA. ITC, TastyBites also offered very good packages of around Rs 10 lakhs per annum. Mother Diary, Nestlé, Adani and many more have participated in our recruitment drive this year. Many start-ups were also seen participating in the drive and offering some very good packages. The average salary was around Rs 4.5 lakhs per annum at Universal College of Engineering and Technology, Gandhi Nagar.
