Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy and Management is a 40-week professional course that focuses on understanding different policy challenges and their governance. The course is offered only by IIM Bangalore and was first launched in 2002. The college has taken the initiative to go hybrid in 2023, offering as a modular and hybrid course.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria for Government Candidates

Government officials from Central services, State administrative training institutes, and State/Non- State civil services can apply for the course. Below mentioned is the eligibility criteria for government professionals:

  • The candidate should have completed their bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks for unreserved category students and 45% marks for reserved category students.
  • The officers should have a minimum of 5 years of work experience in Group A service.
  • The candidates are required to have a no-objection certificate from their respective government authorities.

Eligibility Criteria for Non- Government Candidates

IIM Bangalore also invites professionals from the private sector, social workers, etc, to strengthen the application of managerial skills in public policy management. Below mentioned is the eligibility criteria for professionals working in non-governmental departments:

  • The candidate should have completed their bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks for unreserved category students and 45% marks for reserved category students.
  • The candidate should have a minimum of four years of work experience in the public policy domain.
  • The applicant should have a valid entrance score from either the CAT, GMAT, GRE, or IIMB Test.

Entrance Exam

The IIM Bangalore accepts scores from various entrance exams for admission and it also conducts its own entrance exam, known as the IIMB Test. Some of the other exams accepted are:

  • GMAT
  • GRE

Admission Process 2023

The admission procedure for the course is based on the entrance exam, interview process, prior experience in the public policy domain, etc. Below mentioned is a step-wise process for admission:

  • Step 1: The candidate needs to clear the required cutoff for entrance exams.
  • Step 2: The candidate is required to submit the application form along with the required documents to the college such as a score sheet, work experience letter, etc.
  • Step 3: The candidate is further called for the PI process, where they also need to submit the statement of purpose letter. The students will also be given a case analysis to solve at the time of the interview.
  • Step 4: After the final merit list is published, the candidate needs to submit the fees and documents for verification.
