UPSC IES exam pattern 2023 is an important section from the exam point of view that gives the structure of the exam and candidates should need to follow UPSC ESE 2023 exam structure carefully before appearing for the exam. UPSC IES/ESE 2023 Stage I (Prelims)
Category-I Civil Engineering
- Paper-I - General Studies and Engineering Aptitude for 200 marks, duration 2 hours.
- Paper-II - Civil Engineering for 300 marks, duration 3 hours.

UPSC IES/ESE 2023 Stage-III Personality Test
Personality Test will be conducted for 200 marks .
- Candidates who are qualified both the stages of UPSC IES 2023 exam are eligible for personality test.
- The Personality Test will carry 200 marks (with no minimum qualifying marks). The number of candidates will be eligible for the Personality Test will be about twice the number of vacancies to be filled.
Final Ranking: Marks obtained by the candidates in both the stages as well as in personality test will determine their final ranking. Candidates will be allotted various services as per their marks obtained in the exam and the preference is given by the candidates of the various posts.
