TOEIC Exam Pattern 2023
The TOEIC Exam Pattern 2023 comprises three main formats of clubbed sections or parts that take place together. The sections and the time allotted for each part are depicted in the given tabular column below.

TOEIC Exam Pattern 2023
The TOEIC 2023 Test comprises four main subdivisions:
- TOEIC Reading Test
- TOEIC Listening Test

The examination, however, is split into two parts alone. The Listening and Reading Parts fall under one section and the Writing and Speaking Parts fall under another section. There is an optional test type for Beginners and Intermediate candidates to take up, which is the TOEIC Bridge Test.

The Reading Test examines the reading ability and efficiency of each candidate and the scores are provided according to the Candidate’s performance.
- The TOEIC Reading Test comprises 100 marks weighting and an equal amount of questions.
- The allocation of time for the Reading test alone would be 1 hour and 15 minutes.
- Candidates are expected to answer questions based on given sets of reading comprehension.
- The reading comprehension of the TOEIC may range from general to semi-academic type comprehensions, solely designed for testing the Reading skills of the Test takers.
TOEIC 2023 Exam Listening Test
The TOEIC 2023 Listening Test is a part of the Reading Test Section, combined to form the Listening and Reading Section of the TOEIC Test. The TOEIC Listening Test assesses the Candidate’s abilities to understand and efficiently use the English language in the aspects of Listening. Each Candidate will be provided with scores based on the performance of the Test Takers.
- The TOEIC Listening Test comprises 100 marks weighting and an equal amount of questions.
- The time allotted for the Listening Test is 45 minutes.
- Test takers will be provided with audios with monologues and dialogues, based on which the questions will be given.
- The monologues and dialogues for the TOEIC Listening Test might be general or semi Academic.
TOEIC 2023 Exam Writing Test
The TOEIC 2023 Writing Test examines the abilities and capabilities of each and every test-taking Candidate in the aspects of Writing and effectively utilizing the English language. The marks will be allotted to the candidates based on their performance in the TOEIC Writing Test.
- The TOEIC Writing Test totally comprises Eight questions, with an allotted time of 1 hour.
- The writing task and the Speaking tasks take place together as a clubbed section and the test questions for the writing tasks are based on the speaking test questions.
- The content for both the Speaking and the Writing Tests of the TOEIC are interrelated.
TOEIC 2023 Exam Speaking Test
The TOEIC 2023 Speaking Test and the TOEIC Writing Test are combined to form a section of the TOEIC. The Speaking Test of the TOEIC examines the candidate’s ability to understand and converse efficiently with the examiner. The candidates will be marked on the basis of their performance in the TOEIC Speaking Test.
- The TOEIC Speaking Test comprises eleven questions with an allotted time of 20 minutes.
- The questions for the TOEIC Speaking Test are based on general information or introductions and the questions are interrelated to the Writing Task.
TOEIC 2023 Exam Bridge Test
The TOEIC 2023 Bridge Test is organized for testing the Beginners and Intermediate Candidates for their abilities in the Reading and Listening aspects of the English Language. The level of this Type of Test is set according to the Beginners and the allotted marks will be based on the candidates' efficiency in the Test.
- The TOEIC Bridge Test is a test type designed by the ETS, which is specially intended for Candidates who are Beginners and Intermediates.
- This Test type only focuses on the Listening and Reading for the Beginners and Intermediates and the Time Allotted for the TOEIC Bridge Test would be 1 hour 30 minutes (90 mins).
- The Reading part requires the candidates to attend 35 questions and as far as the Listening part is concerned, 25 questions are present.
- The total time for the test is 1 hour 40 minutes, with 50 minutes for each part.
TOEIC Score 2023
The TOEIC 2023 Test comprises 400 points for each section or part. For each part, the points range from 10 to 400 points. In combination, both the parts range from 10 points to 990 points. The candidates will be evaluated based on their performance in each section or part of the TOEIC Test. It is recommended that the candidates perform each part and subdivision of each part with equal significance.
What is a Good Score in TOEIC 2023 Test
The TOEIC 2023 Test is managed and organized by the Educational Test Services (ETS), which is an Internationally recognized body. The ETS Standards are very high and the candidates are required to prepare accordingly before taking up the test. The generally accepted score which is at par worldwide is 785 points to 900 points out of 990. In terms of Individual parts, 360 points and above is considered to be a very good score. Candidates are required to prepare for attaining the above-mentioned score range.
