TNPSC Group 1 2023 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates should check the eligibility criteria before registering and appearing for the TNPSC Group 1 exam. The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission sets the eligibility criteria in terms of academic qualifications, age limit, physical qualification, local language knowledge etc. The criteria for TNPSC Group 1 exam differ category-wise. Academic Qualification
- The minimum academic qualification for TNPSC Group 1 is graduation in any stream, i.e. It is necessary for the candidates to hold a bachelor’s degree from any recognised university.
- The candidate should have acquired the minimum qualification in the order of the studies as X + XII/HSC + UG Degree or its equivalent + UG Degree from any recognised University/Institution.
- It is necessary for the candidate applying for TNPSC Group 1 to have sufficient knowledge of the Tamil Language.
- The candidates who have appeared for their final examination are also allowed to appear for the TNPSC Group 1 2023 Exam under the condition that they must obtain evidence of passing the degree exam at the time of uploading the documents for the TNPSC Group 1 Mains Exam. Failing to do so, the candidate will not be allowed for the TNPSC Group 1 2023 Mains Exam.
- The candidates who have cleared their final examination of MBBS or any Medical Examination but have not finished their internship are granted to appear for the TNPSC Group 1 2023 Preliminary Examination.
- The candidates applying for the position of Deputy Superintendent of Police [Cat. I] and District Officers (Fire and Rescue Services) must have certain physical qualifications that can be checked on the official notification.
Age Limit
- TNPSC Group 1 has a lower age limit of 21 years and Upper age limit of 32 years. Although the upper age limit for TNPSC Group 1 Eligibility may vary from category to category. The following depicts the upper age relaxation for different categories according to the posts.
- An ex-Serviceman who belongs to any of these categories, i.e. ST, SC/SC[A], BCM, BC, MBC/DC, and DW, are given upper age limit concession of up to 53 years. The Ex-Serviceman in the “Others” category has up to 48 years of upper age limit.
- If an ex-serviceman has already been enrolled in any class or service, or category, they will not be able to receive any of the above-age concessions.
- Persons with disabilities have up to 10 years over and above the given maximum age stated below.

Physical Qualification
Candidates applying for TNPSC Group 1 Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and District Officer (Fire and Rescue Services) must possess the physical fitness mentioned below.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Category I) For Men: Must not be less than 165 cm in height and not less than 86 cm round the chest on full inspiration and must have a chest expansion of not less than 5 cm on full inspiration.

District Officer (Fire and Rescue Services) For Men: Must not be less than 165 cm in Height, 50 kgs in weight and not less than 89 cms round the chest on full inspiration and 84 cms (normal) with not less than 5 cms chest expansion on full inspiration.
For Women: Must be not less than 155 cm in height. The chest measurement and 50 kg weight will not apply to them.

Candidates must possess good knowledge of the Tamil language at the time of TNPSC Group 1 recruitment.
TNPSC Group 1 2023 Application Process
TNPSC Group 1 application process will start soon. Candidates aspiring to write the TNPSC Group 1 exam can complete the application process before the deadline. The admit card will be issued only to those applicants who has registered and paid the application form fee. The first step involved the One-Time Registration (OTR) of the candidate, and the second step is to fill out the application form.

- The TNPSC Group 1 2023 Exam has an online application process. The applicants have to go to the official website of the TNPSC.
- Before applicants can apply to any posts on the TNPSC website, they must complete One Time Registration [OTR].
- There is a one-time fee of INR 150 for Time Registration (OTR). Once the candidate has made registration on OTR, it is valid for the next 5 years.
- Applicants are not required to pay the fee again.
- Before making one-time registration, applicants must have scanned images of their valid Photograph, Signature, and Certificate.
- Applicants who have done OTR can use their login ID and password to log into their TNPSC account to create their dashboard. Applicants cannot create more than one Registration ID in the OTR.
- Please note that OTR is not an application for any post. It is merely a way to collect necessary information from applicants and provide the dashboard.

- Step 1: Click on “Apply” on the respective recruitment notification on the TNPSC website using the Username and Password created at the time of OTR.
- Step 2: Fill in all the personal and educational details in the application form with absolute care, as once the application form is submitted, no changes or modifications can be done.
- Step 3: Upload the relevant documents according to the guidelines specified.
- Step 4: Once the submission is done, the candidate can save or print their application in PDF format. By logging into their account, candidates can download their application and print it if and when necessary.

TNPSC Group 1 2023 comprises three exams: Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam, and Direct Interview. TNPSC Group 1 2023 Prelims Exam exists purely for an initial evaluation. The marks in this examination do not count towards the final selection in TNPSC Group 1 2023. The General Studies section of TNPSC Group 1 2023 Prelims and TNPSC Group 1 2023 Mains will have questions in both English and Tamil.

- TNPSC Group 1 2023 Prelims exam is objective type. It has only one paper consisting of two sections: the General Studies Section and the Aptitude and Mental Ability Test Section.
