Campus:

  • The institute has a sprawling campus located in Jamshedpur with the scenic setting of the Dalma Hills in the North and the Tata Iron & Steel Company in the South.

Library:

  • The Library of XLRI came into existence in 1949 when the Institute was established in the Steel City of Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.
  • It was named after late Sir Jehangir Ghandy in February 1972. The aim of the Library is to cater to the information needs of our Faculty, Research Scholars, Students and its other Members.
  • It is the heart of the institution and acts as a center for the collection of literature predominantly related to labor relations, management, and its allied subjects. And, intends to develop a comprehensive collection of information that is useful for teaching, research and learning purpose.
  • User satisfaction is the current day approach to library services.
  • To keep pace with the modern developments in the arena of a library, the library has been automated and hybrid RFID& EM system has been installed.

Sports Facilities:

  • Sports are taken seriously at XLRI. The fields/courts on campus include Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Tennis, and Volleyball. There is a multi-gymnasium located in the building named after Mr. S. C. Sarkar.
  • Indoor sports facilities are available in the students' residences.
  • In addition to the facilities on campus, students at XL have access to swimming pools, tennis courts, squash courts, and a synthetic athletics track through our affiliation with local clubs and other sports associations.

Laboratories:

  • Group lab: An observation room with a one-way mirror, video camera and a seating capacity of 8-10 people. This room is ideal for running focus group interviews and conducting observation based experiments. The data captured through the online camera can be analyzed by using various software.
  • Multi-Person lab: Cabins for capturing individual responses. These cabins are equipped with a 21-inch monitor, a PC and time response software (Direct RT).
  • Conference Room: A conference room equipped with an LED screen can be used for debriefing the respondents or to conduct group exercises. This space can also be used for designing and conducting small experiments and has been provided with flexible furniture and partitions.
  • Video lab: A server room providing facilities to store, edit and analyze experimental data. The lab is equipped with Media Lab software.
  • Software: Lab also subscribes to Qualtrics, media lab software, etc.

Hostels:

  • Hostel facilities at XLRI, are provided for students of the residential programs, consist of the four hostel blocks with more than 400 rooms in total.
  • Every hostel room has access points linking it to the campus-wide network and the various network resources and services.

Auditoriums:

  • The campus has two state-of-the-art auditoriums, both fully air-conditioned.
  • The Small Auditorium, as the first one is called the oldest of the two, with a seating capacity for about 150 people.
  • This auditorium plays host to internal student events, guest lectures and seminars, and the famed XLRI Student General Body Meetings.
