Uttarakhand Open University, Dehradun offers certificate courses, diploma course as well as courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. There are a vast number of faculties conducting courses such as Arts, Science, Social Science, Business Administration, Performing Arts, Computer Application, Food Technology, Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Health and Beauty, Politics and Law to name just a few. With its combination of new and advanced modes of communication technology,  novel education programmes and good old contact programmes, the distance learning experiences is made as enriching and wholesome as any regular scholastic experience but with the added benefit of flexibility and innovative methods incubating independent learning.

UOU, Dehradun Certificate Courses Admission 2024

Certificate courses are offered by the college in 26 different disciplines. These courses are specialized in subjects such as Ayurveda, Food and Nutrition, Health, Beauty, Politics, Agriculture, Sanskrit, Geo Informatics and so on. As is evident, the range of these courses goes from traditional Indian knowledge to advanced technology. Certificate in Vocational courses are also provided, these are entirely focused on making the learning application-based in nature so students can capitalise on any entrepreneurial opportunities.

UOU, Dehradun Certificate Courses- Eligibility, Fees

The duration of each course is 6 months but can be extended for up to 12 months or 24 months, depending on the subject in question.

Fees for the courses is between INR 1,750/- to INR 12,000/- depending on the course subject and programme (undergraduate/postgraduate).

Eligibility criteria for Diploma courses is 10+2 or Equivalent.

Certificate courses require candidates to have a qualification of articulation (10th standard) or 10+2 or equivalent, depending on the subject.

Diploma courses offered by the institute are 24. Diploma in Vocational Courses are completely centered around skill-based employments-oriented knowledge which can help students to use their entrepreneurial talents or to up their employability. Some Diploma subjects offered are Digital Marketing, Soft Skills and e-office Management, Broadcast Journalism, Hospitality Administration, Tourism Studies, Ayurved and Farming to name a few. Evidently, they are a range of specialized and interesting subjects based on fields which are extremely relevant in today’s age.

UOU, Dehradun Diploma Courses- Eligibility, Fees

Each diploma course has to be studied over a minimum duration of 12 months. They can be extended for up to 24 months, 36 months or 48 months depending on the subject in question.

Fees for the courses is between INR 5,000/- to INR 40,000/- depending on the course subject and programme (undergraduate/postgraduate).

Eligibility criteria for Diploma courses is 10+2 or Equivalent.

Eligibility Criteria for PG Diploma is graduation in any subject, with the exception of the following subjects-

 PGD Marketing Management/ PGD Human Resource Management/ PGD Management

• 50% Marks at graduate or post graduate level with 1 year experience in the relevant field. Further those having 45% marks at graduate level or post graduate level shall also be eligible with 2 years supervisory/managerial/professional teaching experience after completing graduation or post-graduation (even if the degree has been obtained in ODL mode or as a private student).(5% relaxation for reserved category). Courses offered in undergraduate level include BA, BBA, B.Com, B.Sc, B.Ed, BCA as well as more unconventional courses like Bachelor of  Arts in Yoga (BA Yoga), Bachelor of Hotel management (BHM), Bachelor of Travel and Tourism Management (BTTM).

BA curriculum include subjects such as Public Administration, Sociology,Political Science, Music, Economics, Mathematics, History, Geography, Hindi/Urdu/Sanskrit/English, Education, Karmakand/Jotish and Psychology These are however available in combinations as predetermined by the college.

B.Sc course includes subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Botany Zoology, Biology and Mathematics.

UOU, Dehradun UG Courses- Duration, Eligibility, Fees

Duration of BTTM, BHM courses is 48 months and they can be extended for up to 96 months. B.Ed is a 24 month course and can be extended for 48 months while the rest are 36 months courses which can be continued up till 72 months.

Fee for the courses is between INR 3,000/- to INR 17,000/- per semester/year depending on the subject.

Courses offered at the postgraduate level include MA, M.Com, MBA, M.Sc, LLM, MCA, MTTM, MHM, MSW and MJMC.
MA courses are offered in 13 different disciplines, namely- English, Hindi, Economics, Geography, Geo Informatics, Home Science, History, Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, Public Administration, Sanskrit, Urdu.
M.Sc is offered in 10 different specializations- Botany, Chemistry, Cyber Security, Environmental Science, Geography, Geo Informatics, IT, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology.

Duration of most postgraduate courses is 24 months and can be extended for up to 48 months. This however depends on the course and varying University rules.

Fee for the courses is anywhere between INR 3,000/- to INR 20,00/- per semester/year varying with the specialization subject.

To apply for Admissions, visit the website of Uttarakhand Open University, Dehradun.

• Click on the “Online Admission” tab at the top of the screen to apply for UOU, Dehradun Admissions.
• Click on the link “Click here to proceed” on the web page that appears, are some general instructions.
• Read all instructions regarding selection of subjects and examination carefully.
  Sign the declaration and click on the appropriate button to proceed (whether new admission or already enrolled with the university).
• Fill in details such as Personal Information, Previous Education Details, Identification details and a current Email iD and Phone Number for future correspondence.
• Select the study centre of choice, programme and courses, medium of instruction, session (January/July) and other particular with respect to your course.
• Proceed to pay the fees.
• After completing this process, download a hardcopy of your Application Form and post it to the address of your Study Centre with all the required testimonials attached.

Admission Guidelines

• Admission in any programme of Uttarakhand Open University is valid only if taken in the prescribed Study Centers within the Uttarakhand State.
• All exams will be conducted at Study centres within the state of Uttarakhand.
• Candidates who fill the Application Form online, need not pay the Prospectus Fee of INR 100/-
• Admission to MBA (in English medium only), will be allowed on the basis of score obtained in the entrance-test to be conducted for the purpose. For appearing in the entrance test, a candidate shall have to fill-in the Application Form, only through online mode. The link for the same shall be available on the UOU, Dehradun official website. The fee for the entrance test shall be payable only through online mode of payment. The list of applicants and the test centre allotted shall be posted on the University’s website a week before the entrance test. University will try to allot the nearest test centre to the Applicants, and they can download their admit cards from the university's website.
