Samrat Ashok Technological Institute, a premier institute of the region was established by Late Maharaja Jiwaji Rao Scindia on November 1, 1960, with a donation from the Gangajali Trust fund. The Institute started with B.E. in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering & Electrical Engineering. Now the Institute offers 8 full-time Under Graduate leading to degrees in Bachelor of Engineering and 9 full-time Post Graduate Courses ( 06 ME/M.Tech., MCA, MBA, And M.Sc. in Applied Chemistry) in the areas of Engineering, Science and Management. It is an autonomous institute, which is Grant in Aid by the Government of Madhya Pradesh and managed by the Maharaja Jiwaji Rao Education Society chaired by Hon'ble Shrimant Jyotiraditya M. Scindia. The college campus is spread over an area of 85 acres of lush green land with natural surroundings.

The Training & Placement Office, SATI Vidisha facilitates the process of placement of students passing out from the Institute besides collaborating with leading organizations and institutes in setting up internship and training programs for students. The office liaises with various industrial establishments, corporate houses, etc which conduct campus interviews and select graduate and post-graduate students from all disciplines. The Training & Placement Office provides the infra-structural facilities to conduct group discussions, tests, and interviews besides catering to other logistics. The Office interacts with many industries in the country, out of which nearly 40 companies recruit our students through campus interviews. The industries which approach the institute come under the purview of:
