Indian Institute of Plantation Management, [IIPM] Bangalore - Placements and Companies Visited

Recognizing the demand for training programs from potential and nascent Coffee entrepreneurs who are based in major urban centres in India, IIPM-CIE and Coffee Board have developed Reach-out Programmes that would provide an overview of the potential for Coffee entrepreneurship.These programmes have modules relating to the establishment and management of Coffee roasting and grinding business and, Coffee retailing businesses. The programmes have distinct modules on assessment of Coffee quality and, business planning for Coffee businesses.

The Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at Indian Institute of Plantation Management (IIPM), Bangalore is a pioneering initiative of IIPM to promote entrepreneurship in the Indian Coffee sector. The Coffee Board has supported the establishment of CIE-IIPM to promote Coffee entrepreneurship through a set of focused activities by the centre. The Centre’s activities have led to establishment of new businesses in the Indian Coffee Sector and contributed to wealth creation and employment generation. The Centre also partners with existing Coffee-related businesses in their diversification and expansion-related activities.

Objectives: CIE’s activities are guided by the following objectives

• To design and conduct capacity building and training programmes to promote and develop coffee entrepreneurship among various stakeholder groups

• To mentor and handhold existing and potential entrepreneurs and IIPM students, to establish coffee and related businesses

• To maintain, operate and share infrastructure that would provide technical training through Coffee Technology Lab (CTL) to potential and existing coffee entrepreneurs

• To establish and maintain a resource centre to enable knowledge creation and sharing in the area of coffee entrepreneurship

• To integrate coffee entrepreneurship in the academic programmes of IIPM and, promote coffee entrepreneurship among students of IIPM
