“Glocal University may have successfully offered a good education with supportive faculties and decent infrastructure. Yet its exorbitant course fees do not justify the same.”

In the 13 years of its existence, Glocal University has slowly emerged as an institution that has been successful in helping and satisfying students to achieve their academic goals. Of the many prominent features the university has displayed, students are primarily pleased with the faculty members and placements. While the faculties are helpful and congenial, the placements can be improved significantly in terms of rate as well as training of students.

Glocal University tops the chart in the region, when it comes to its infrastructure. It has substantially incorporated many state-of-the-art facilities to aid the students. The campus is also set amidst greenery, which lends a serene environment. Moreover, students are encouraged to take part in various activities to ensure a fulfilling campus life.

Appreciable Academics

Glocal University has maintained its education standards. The quality of education may not be able to compete with the top-tier universities of the country. Yet, it is considerably better than many private universities. Currently, it offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs. These degrees are offered in various fields such as Law, Art and Social Science, Nursing, Education, and many more. The course curriculum is well-designed and includes current developments in the industry. Thus, it keeps the students updated about the on-goings of the industry. 

The admission process at Glocal University is uncomplicated and based on the marks from the last qualifying examination. Hence, a larger pool of students can be admitted at various branches. Furthermore, the semester exams are easy to pass. Students do not have to spend long hours studying their syllabus to pass the subjects. That being said, it is not too easy as well. The pass percentage of the students is relatively high because of this.

Expensive Course Fees

Studying at Glocal University will be expensive. Given that it is a private university, the charges align with those of its counterparts. Hence, students from a financially compromised background will find it difficult to afford any of the courses. For instance, to complete B.E/B.Tech students will require INR 1,20,000 to INR 6,80,000, while for M.Sc, they will have to pay around INR 70,000.

Similarly, completing a B.Pharm degree will cost around INR 4,00,000, while an MBA will cost INR 6,30,000. Furthermore, the management only provides a little help through scholarships. Only limited scholarships are available that grant the students a small amount of monetary benefits.

Cordial Faculties

Faculties at Glocal University are helpful in nature. Whenever the students need help with their courses, they are readily available to help the students. The professors are also polite in nature. Hence, students get the confidence to approach their professors without any hesitation. The faculty members possess high qualifications and have gained relevant knowledge and experience over the years. They use simple techniques to teach for easier understanding of the subjects. 

Modern Infrastructure

Glocal University has built a sturdy and modern infrastructure. However, there is room for improvement in many of its facilities, and newer, more advanced facilities can be implemented. The classrooms are spacious, well-ventilated, and equipped with smart classes, projectors, etc. The classrooms have an auditorium-like seating arrangement that fosters peer-to-peer learning and interaction.

The central library holds an extensive collection of various genres of books, periodicals, journals, etc.. It also stocks quite a few fictional books. The laboratories on the campus are well equipped with the required number and technology pertaining to the subject. They are well-maintained and break down infrequently. However, new and improved instruments can indeed be installed in the labs. 

Glocal University has a large area dedicated to sports activities. It includes Cricket, Football, Table Tennis, Volleyball and many other sports. The fields are cared for well and maintained. The cafeteria inside the campus serves a variety of foods at reasonable prices. Students have expressed their satisfaction with the quality of food at the cafeteria. In addition to the above facilities, the university has a medical centre, auditorium, and transportation service.

The campus is spread across a large green area. The campus has constant security, making it safe for the students. While the majority of the services provided are good, there is a significant problem that the students face with the electricity. There are frequent power outages that disrupt the life of the students. The management should install sophisticated generators that would provide the required electricity during power outages.

Clean & Hygienic Hostels

Glocal University provides hostel opportunities for both boys and girls. The rooms are on a twin and four-sharing basis. The rooms have amenities like a bed, table, chair, wardrobe, etc. The bathrooms are always clean, and in general, the hostel premises are also looked after well. Most students prefer staying inside the hostel as it is in such good condition. Yet students, if they wish, can stay outside as well. There are many guest payment options available at various prices. 

There is also a dedicated mess facility which the students can enjoy. The mess food is of good quality. There is also tight security around the hostel perimeter to ensure the safety of the students. The hostel fees are too expensive, given the locality in which it is situated. Yearly, students need to spend approximately INR 75,000 on hostel fees. The students must adhere to strict in and out time rules followed by hostel management.

Decent Placement Rate

Although Glocal University’s placement rate varies each year, it can go up to 80%. Which, although not commendable, is decent enough. In many years, it can drop below 50% as well. While the placement rate has somehow been looked into, the compensation offered is very low. While the highest package received can be as good as INR 30 LPA, the average package can be anywhere between INR 3 to 4.5 LPA. Thus, the salary range is inconsistent within the departments. 

Only some training is organised by the placement department to impart professional skills that will aid the students in cracking the recruitment process and take them a step further towards being industry-ready.

Cheerful Campus Life

Glocal University provides a joyous campus environment. Various seminars, events, and extra-curricular activities are celebrated throughout the year. Students are also encouraged to participate in multiple clubs and their related activities to improve their interpersonal skills and keep them engaged and entertained. The annual college fest is one of the most awaited events of the university. Students also do not face any restrictions when pursuing their sports interests. 

While such encouragement by the management is praiseworthy, the diversity of students takes a back seat on campus. Most students are from the state and regions around the university locality. There is also no share of international students among the campus crowd. On top of this, the course fees being priced high, students from socio-economically compromised backgrounds cannot take admission. Thus reducing the diversity further.

Rules, Regulations, and Dress Code

Glocal University has no strict rules and regulations implemented on the students. Students must maintain a 75% attendance record. Failing to do so might result in debarring them from sitting in the semester exams or other disciplinary actions. Glocal University has implemented a dress code or uniform for a few departments, where the students must follow the prescribed dress code. The rest of the departments do not have any prescribed uniforms.

Is Glocal University Worth it?

If one’s primary goal is to receive a decent quality education with good faculties, then Glocal University might fit their agenda. However, if one aims to receive exceptional quality education coupled with experienced faculties and exciting campus life, then one needs to think thoroughly before choosing Glocal University.

If it is to be compared with other private universities, then the offerings that Glocal University is providing is notable, the course fees that it charges does not necessarily add up to it. With such high costs, it has failed to provide good placements and top-quality faculties and curricula.

If one has no constraints such as money, location preference, etc., one can indeed search for other better universities. That being said, they should also consult the past and present students of Glocal University to get a clearer picture of the scenario.
