Avvaiyar Govt. College for Women - Karaikal is located in the heart of the town surrounded by the Collector's office, Office of the Superintendent of Police, Municipal Office, Govt. General Hospital and the unique French institute Alliance Francaise.

This institution has a good infrastructure with a well designed building much suitable for educational atmosphere and also provides safety to the girl students with a total built up area of 5426.6 sq.mts., that caters the need of both the Undergraduate and Post-graduate courses. Moreover, a new building is coming up in the near future with an area spanning 2.69 acres of land near Government Maternity Hospital.

The college has a good library which is a state of the art type in providing information to the students and staff. It has two-storied building with an area of 5000 sq.feets. and has a collection of nearly 35,000 volumes of books.

The college has well equipped labs for all the Science courses with sophisticated equipments not only to cater the need of the students but also for carrying out the Research activities bu the faculties

The College has two individual Computer Centers with state-of-art File Servers connecting the Computer systems that are installed with Pentium Core processors and also has a Internet connectivity to cater the needs of all the departments.
