On 16th January, 304 graduating students of batch 2018-2020 of Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi received their PGDM certificates. The convocation ceremony of the year was however different from other times as it is being held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is the 59th annual convocation of XISS.
State’s Chief Minister, Shri HemantSoren as the chief guest, was held at the Fr. Michael Van den Bogaret, SJ Memorial Auditorium in the XISS campus, the graduating students however joined the ceremony only through virtual mode. The convocation ceremony was telecasted live on XISS YouTube Channel from 5 PM. A total of 304 students of Batch 2018-20 received their diplomas in the ceremony, while 26 students from all departments who were the top rank holders along with others instituted awardees were bestowed with 11 gold, 08 silver, and 05 bronze medals and 02 cash prizes respectively. The ceremony saw the preparations of creating a pictorial representation of the students in graduation gowns to keep the essence of the ceremony amidst their physical absence. A synchronized pledge was also a part of the ceremony.
