ICFAI Law School had recently organized a national seminar on Personal Law Reforms: Problems and Prospects here in Dehradun on 8 April 2017.The seminar saw a formidable participation consisting of enthusiast participants, leading academicians, and dignified dignitaries. Prof. (Dr.) Afzal Wani chaired the inaugural session as Key Note Speaker of the occasion and informed the participants about how to harmonize various personal laws while striving for a better tomorrow.
Four Technical Sessions
The Inaugural session was followed by four technical sessions to discuss various themes of the topics. The first technical session focussed on the sub-theme ‘Need for reforms in Personal Laws in India: An Analysis’ and was chaired by Dr. Yogesh Pratap Singh and Mr. Ayaz Ahmad. The second one discussed the issues and challenges in the field of personal laws and was chaired by Prof. (Dr.) H M Mittal and Dr. Akhilesh Pandey. The third and the fourth sessions were about various aspects of the introduction of a Uniform Civil Code across India.
Participation from Various Colleges
Participation from various Law colleges across the country like national Law Universities, traditional law colleges like DU, GGSIPU, BHU, AMU and leading private law schools like UPES, SLS, Amity, LPU, LCD. Awards and Certificates for the best presenter were given for excellent presentations. The event concluded successfully under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Pawan Kumar Aggarwal, Vice Chancellor, IUD, and Prof. (Dr.) H M Mittal, Dean, ILS, IUD.
