The International Management Institute situated in Kolkata was established in 1981. IMI was India’s first corporate sponsored business school which was backed by prestigious corporate houses like RPG Enterprises, Nestle, ITC, SAIL, Tata Chemicals, BOC, and Williamson Magor. IMI Kolkata came up in 2010 to enable bright young minds to gain access to the world-class IMI management pedagogy. The college offers programs in post-graduation and the flagship Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) program is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) with effect from July 2016 for the next three years. The institution was ranked 45th among the top management universities by the NIRF Ranking in 2019. IMI Kolkata's two-year full-time PGDM program is also accorded equivalence with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The IMI Kolkata campus is centrally located in the city and equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructural, academic, and residential facilities. The institute offers not only a scholarly and professional ambiance but also a fulfilling campus life, necessary for the all-round development of the student. IMI Kolkata NIRF Rankings
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was approved by the MHRD and launched by the Honourable Minister of Human Resource Development on 29th September 2015. This framework outlines a detailed methodology to rank institutions across the country. The methodology chooses from the overall recommendations and a broad understanding is arrived at by a core committee to identify the parameters for ranking various universities and institutions. The NIRF rankings for the year 2016 were based on the broad parameters, however, the rankings for the year 2017 a few changes were made in the sub-parameters. IMI Kolkata has been ranked 52nd under the management institutions in India category for the year 2020.
