NMIMS Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics (SAMSOE) and Virginia Tech University (VT), USA, have collaborated to offer a unique 2-year Dual Degree Programme in Economics.
The field of economics is in a constant state of evolution, adapting to the new-age demands of the industry. In response to this, NMIMS Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics (SAMSOE) and Virginia Tech University (VT), USA, have joined forces to present a distinctive 2-year Dual Degree Programme in Economics.
Applications are currently open for the dual-degree program, leading to a Master of Science (Economics), spanning two years - one at NMIMS and the subsequent year at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA, USA. Upon successful completion, students will be awarded an M.Sc. Economics degree from SAMSOE and an M.A. in Economics degree from Virginia Tech.
This unique program offers an in-depth understanding of economics, blending it with analytical disciplines. The foundational education in Economics begins with the M.Sc. in Economics degree at SAMSOE, covering subjects like Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics, and International Economics, establishing a robust base for aspiring economists. Following this, students have the opportunity to pursue advanced courses at Virginia Tech, including Big Data Economics, Computational Finance, Behavioral Economics, and Managerial Economics. The combination of both courses sets a solid foundation for a Ph.D. in Economics, with qualified students gaining access to the full range of Ph.D. courses offered at Virginia Tech.
The MA Economics degree at Virginia Tech is a STEM-certified program, allowing international students to avail Optional Practical Training for three years post the completion of their degree.
Prof. Amita Vaidya, Director of Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics, expressed, "At SAMSOE, we believe in instilling a global perspective in our students, preparing them to be leaders in an interconnected world. This dual degree program in Economics, developed in collaboration with Virginia Tech, exemplifies our commitment to providing an enriching and diverse educational experience to our students, empowering them to understand and navigate successfully through the complexities of the global economy with a well-rounded and internationally informed perspective."
