AIPMT Full Form

The AIPMT full form is 'All India Pre Medical Test.' AIPMT was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education and went through a change in 2016. The all-new AIPMT is now addressed as the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). 
Earlier, the AIPMT test administered student enrollment into graduate programs such as MBBS and BDS, respectively. The test score served as the gateway for admission into government and top private medical institutes and colleges.  
Nevertheless, NEET is now being administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA), which provides the results to the Directorate General of Health Services under the Ministry of Health and Family.

Full Form of AIPMT - What is the AIPMT Exam?

AIPMT exam full form is the All India Pre-Medical test/ Pre-Dental Entrance Test. AIPMT was an annual medical entrance examination in India, conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The marks obtained in this exam is a way for you to get admission to MBBS and BDS courses in several medical colleges across the country. 

In 2012, the NEET exam was conducted by the Medical Council of India and Dental Council of India for admission into UG and PG programs in both Government and Private Colleges in India. But due to several reasons, this exam was delayed by a year.

On 18 July 2013, The NEET exam was scrapped by the Supreme Court as there were about 115 petitions against the exam. They also ordered that private medical colleges should not conduct their own UG or PG exams. 

As a result, on 28 April 2016, the Supreme Court announced that there would be one standard entrance test two days before AIPMT, called NEET Phase 1 Exam, almost 6 lakh candidates appeared for it. Additionally, the Supreme Court rejected the appeal to allow the conduction of separate entrance exams for MBBS and BDS by the state government.

Further, a controversy erupted in the state of Tamil Nadu regarding the NEET exams. NEET 2018 had consisted of 49 errors in the NEET paper conducted in the Tamil language, for which the High Court ordered to give grace marks to students. However, the Supreme Court turned it down upon the appeal of CBSE. Finally, the Delhi government decided to make NEET the only exam for admission to medical colleges.

AIPMT/ NEET-UG Exam Eligibility

There was a significant overhaul of rules, exam patterns, and eligibility criteria when the AIPMT test was converted to NEET. Hence, one must be aware of the continually changing criteria and structures of the exam on all levels and counts. The eligibility criteria for the NEET exam is mentioned below:

• A student must be at least 17 years of age or above to write NEET 2021. Candidates must be born on or before January 1, 2004.
• The minimum educational qualification to undertake the NEET UG Exam is Class 12 or other valid equivalents.
• The candidates should have secured at least a 50% aggregate score/marks in their Class 10 and Class 12 board exams. (40% for OBC/SC/ST categories.)
• One must have also studied science (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology) to be eligible to apply for the exam.
• The following nationals are eligible for NEET as of NEET 2019:
  • Indian
  • Non-Residential Indian
  • Overseas Citizens of India (OCI)
  • Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)
  • Foreign Nationals

AIPMT/NEET Exam Pattern

The AIPMT 2021 will cover both Class 11 and Class 12 syllabi of the science subjects consisting of 180 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ). This offline exam is 3 hours long in duration. Candidates will be awarded 4 marks for every correct answer and penalised by -1 for every wrong answer. A student can write their NEET UG exams in any one of the following languages:

Aspirants are typically asked to refer to Class 11 NCERT books and Class 12 books for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in order to prepare better for the AIPMT/NEET exams since they're the standard sources.

AIPMT/NEET Counselling

NEET percentile is calculated based on the marks scored divided by total marks. This is then multiplied with 100. When it comes to counselling, 85% of seats are reserved for individual state counsellings and 15% of the seat allocation is for All-India Levels. This should give students an extra window to levy their choices and plans. The NEET counselling sessions usually commence in the 2nd week of June online. The MBBS and BDS seats are filled through NEET UG test scores all over the country. It is conducted in separate rounds for different students based on their rankings.
