Why is Pursuing an MBA from a Non-IIM Institution a better choice? 

The motivation for choosing to pursue a distance learning MBA from a non-IIM college lies to a large extent in the individual student's objectives, financial status,  and the specific program offered by the school. CAT scores cannot be the only determinant in awarding an admission for an MBA. There are some other areas which also have to be done to be considered by most management institutes.  Some of the areas for MBA admissions, other than the CAT score are as follows:

• Class X Scores- Results of Class X also have to be used but to a far lesser extent than Class XII scores. Some schools may give more value to these grades while other institutions may give less.
• Class XII Scores- Performance in Class 12 board examinations is also considered. It is critical although generally less than other criteria attached to it. There is variation in the weightage given among institutions regarding scores for class twelve.
• Graduation Scores- The performance at the bachelor’s level is one of the major aspects of the selection process. These scores are as important as class 10 and 12 in determining the eligibility for admission into the MBA programs.
• Written Ability Test- It is the first phase in the selection process- where a candidate is required to write an essay on the given topic under the prescribed criteria.
• Group Discussions- Group discussion forms part of the selection methodology in many IIMs and other foremost institutes. This stage assesses the oral prowess of the test takers as well as their ability to work with other members, both of which are essential in MBA programs.
