UGC Chairman States Enrollment In Online Courses, Distance Education Up By 170% And 42%
UGC chairman has stated that enrollment in online courses has led to distance education up by 170 percent and 42 percent in the past few years.
The UGC Chairman has officially announced that with online education at an affordable cost, each student can have access to high-quality education. This way, all the students can become more skillful and knowledgeable. Additionally, he stated that online course enrollment would increase by 170 percent in 2022. Comparatively, there is also an increase in distance learning by 42 percent. Further, the University Grants Commission Chairman has stated that online enrollment will grow more along with the launch of National Digital University.

Comparative Status Of Students EnrollmentĀ
The number of universities that offer online courses has significantly increased from 2020 to 2022. Statistically speaking, there has been a 38% increase in the number of online courses offered by recognized institutions.

Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, a UGC Chairman, stated that through the online program, a window of opportunity is provided to several students who cannot join a university physically."There is a steady increase in the number of enrolments in online programs," he added. Moreover, Jagadesh Kumar officially wrote that" However, this will pick up further once we announce the National Digital University together with flexible online education regulations".
Simultaneously, on the topic of taking advantage of digital technologies, Kumar added, "We need to take advantage of modern digital technologies to prepare engaging digital content and reach out to students using growing internet availability. At an affordable cost, students can access high-quality education to become skillful and knowledgeable" The chairman believes that a digital university will open long-closed doors for students all over the country. Further, he said that he believes "This will enable the students to become more employable in the emerging job market and has the added advantage of increasing the gross enrollment ratio."
