DU Admissions 2022: 25% Students Froze Seats Against First Merit List While 60% Opted for Upgrade

DU Admissions 2022: Delhi University has released an official statement after the release of the 1 round of seat allotment, stating that out of 59,100 candidates who were shortlisted for DU admissions 2022 through the 1st round of allotment, only 25% of candidates froze their seats. In contrast, 60% of the allotted candidates preferred to upgrade through the "Programme+College Combination" option. The University earlier shut the window to upgrade on Oct 27, 2022.

The number of candidates who chose to freeze their allotted seats is 15,398, while 35,288 decided to upgrade. "Freezing" implies that the candidate is satisfied with the course and college allotted to them and wishes to confirm their seats and not choose to upgrade. Furthermore, the University cleared that the upgrade facility was open to candidates who still needed to secure their first preference of college and course for DU admissions 2022.

Of the 59,100 allotted candidates of the first round of allotment, 6500 candidates were allotted their preferred program and college. The candidates' admissions confirmation was made through payment of the fee for UG courses online. Moving ahead, the University will announce if they will conduct round 2 of seat allocation based on seat availability. Specific colleges in DU are already low on seat availability. Many, like Hindu College, Aryabhtaa College, Miranda House and St.Stephen's College, already have a few seats to zero. Almost all north campus colleges are more or less filled up. If there are any availabilities, DU admissions 2022 authorities will conduct further rounds through the CSAS process on Oct 30, 2022.
