As in the past few decades, the growth of the Higher Education Network throughout India has increased exponentially. To rank all the institutions under the roof of a single criterion, the Ministry of Education (MoE) adopted the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). There are five main parameters in the ranking like
- Teaching, Learning and Resources
- Research and Professional Practises
- Peer Perception
- Graduation Outcomes
- Outreach and Inclusivity
Ranking of the institutions helps in maintaining healthy competition towards excellence. However, it also helps provide the students with information about the quality of education in each Institution through its rankings. Among the 11 categories of rankings that NIRF publishes, one of them is Engineering. In 2015, when NIRF was initially rolled out, participation in institutions was not mandatory but rather voluntary. Since 2018, it has become mandatory for all government-run educational institutions to participate in NIRF for its ranking. Honourable Union Minister of Education of India Shri Dharmendra Pradhan announced today, on 15th July 2022, the seventh edition of NIRF at 11am. This year 7854 institutions participated in NIRF Engineering Ranking 2022.
