The Gujarat Panchayat Service Selection Board decided to "postpone" the exam in the greater interest of the candidates after police arrested a suspect based on a tip-off and found a duplicate of the exam's question paper early on Sunday morning, the board said in a statement.

The board advised the candidates not to visit the examination locations and apologised for the trouble it had caused. The statement read, "The examination will be held once more as soon as possible, for which the board will issue a new advertisement."
Manish Doshi, a spokesperson for the Gujarat Congress, asserted that the question paper leak was the reason for the cancellation of the 15th government competitive exam in the previous 12 years.
