Gujarat Junior Clerk Exam Cancelled For 9.5 Lakh Students Due to Question Paper Leak

The Gujarat government's competitive examination for hiring junior clerks was cancelled hours before it was planned on Sunday due to a question paper leak. Police also detained a suspect in this regard. For the exam, which was scheduled to be held at 2,995 locations throughout the state and was for 1,181 positions, as many as 9.5 lakh people enrolled.

The Gujarat Panchayat Service Selection Board decided to "postpone" the exam in the greater interest of the candidates after police arrested a suspect based on a tip-off and found a duplicate of the exam's question paper early on Sunday morning, the board said in a statement.

It stated that the police were looking into the situation. "On Jan 29, between 11 AM and 12 noon, the junior clerk (administrative/accounting) exam was scheduled to take place in several regions. According to the information the police provided early on Sunday morning, they detained a suspect and took a copy of the test from him after questioning him. "The board made the statement.

The board advised the candidates not to visit the examination locations and apologised for the trouble it had caused. The statement read, "The examination will be held once more as soon as possible, for which the board will issue a new advertisement." 

Manish Doshi, a spokesperson for the Gujarat Congress, asserted that the question paper leak was the reason for the cancellation of the 15th government competitive exam in the previous 12 years. 

"The top perpetrators haven't even been arrested, despite the government's assurances that it is taking rigorous measures. The government is playing with the state's youth's future, "He claimed. Doshi asserted that the examination, for which the first advertisement was published in 2016, had been postponed three times.
