ISC Grading System follows a 9-point grading system. The grades range from 1 to 9, and students must score between 90 and 100 to score the highest grade.
ISC Grading System 2025: Released and formulated by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), the ISC 12th grading system 2025 follows a nine-point grading method. While grades ranging between 1 and 2 mean an excellent performance and score in the ISC Board exam 2025, the lowest grades, 8 and 9, are allotted to students who fail to obtain the required passing marks.
Furthermore, students need to obtain a minimum of 33% marks in all the subjects to qualify for the next academic level. Students who fail to do so can appear for the ISC Board improvement exam, scheduled to be conducted in July 2025 (tentatively).

ISC Grading System 2025
The ISC grading system 2025 is designed to allocate grade points to students depending on their score in the final examination. The grades are allotted for both internals/practicals and final examinations, where 1 is the highest grade, and 9 is the lowest. ISC Grading System 2025: Passing Criteria
To meet the passing requirements, students must score at least 35% overall and 40% in individual subjects. As per the marking system of the ISC board, the exam is conducted for a total of 100 marks; the external exams are conducted for 80, and the internal exams are for 20 marks. Whereas for the science subjects, the theory paper is held for 70 marks and practicals for 30.

Percentage in the ISC Grading System 2025
While the ISC grading system implies different score ranges, here are the steps to calculate the percentage in the ISC exam 2025.
- Candidates must consider the marks of the top 3 subjects while adding up the total marks.
- Next, the total marks must be divided by the total number of subjects.
- Further, it is mandatory to include the marks received in English.

ISC Compartment Exams 2025
The ISC compartment exams 2025 will be conducted by July 2025 (tentative) for candidates who could not get passing marks in one or more subjects. As per the guidelines of the board, students can register for the supplementary exams till June 2025. However, students can consider the things to do after the compartment exams from the details given below.
- Students can opt for ISC compartment exams if the scores are unsatisfactory.
- They can register for the exams online by June 2025.
- The marks scored in the compartment exam are considered final. The board will not alter the marks after the exams.
- Candidates who fail to clear the exams will not be allowed to attend the current academic session.
