GATE 2023 Commences on Feb 4: Check Important Exam Day Instructions

GATE 2023: Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, will conduct the GATE 2023 Exam starting on Feb 4. The exam will be conducted on Feb 4, 5, 11 and 12 for various subjects. The authorities released the GATE admit card 2023 on Jan 3 on the official website. Since there are only a few days left for the exam, candidates are busy with the GATE 2023 Preparation.
Further, the authorities have also released a set of exam day instructions for the candidates that are part of the GATE Preparation 2023. Candidates must follow all the instructions and strictly adhere to them while appearing for the exam.

GATE 2023: Instructions for Exam Day
Listed below are the important exam day instructions for the GATE exam 2023 that was released along with the admit card:
- All candidates must carry a printout of the GATE 2023 admit card and an original, valid photo ID proof while reporting for the exam. The acceptable ID cards include Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Aadhaar Card and Driving License. The photo on the ID card should be clear.
- The photograph and the signature on the admit card should be clearly visible. If they are not, the authorities may deny the candidate entry to the exam hall. Hence, candidates are advised to take a colour printout of the GATE 2023 admit card using a laser printer to avoid such a situation.
- Candidates must ensure they report at the exam centre at least 90 minutes before the commencement of the exam. The candidates will only be able to log in to the examination application till 30 minutes after the beginning of the exam. Candidates can log in to the application 20 minutes before the start of the exam and read the instructions.
- Candidates will be provided with a scribble pad for calculations. They must write their name and registration number on all the papers. Candidates can only possess one scribble pad at a time; in case they fill out the scribble pad, they may request another from the exam invigilator. The scribble pads must be returned to the examiners at the end of the exam.
- A virtual scientific calculator for numerical calculations will be part of the examination application. Candidates should not carry any Personal calculators or any other electronic devices to the examination hall. Other prohibited items include charts, tables, papers, books, sheets, and heavy ornaments.
- Candidates must carry a pen and pencil of their own. They can also carry a transparent water bottle and pocket-sized hand sanitiser inside the exam hall. No other items are allowed inside the exam hall. If caught with other items, they will be deregistered/ barred from the examination and/or subjected to disciplinary action, which may include a ban from appearing in future examinations.
- Candidates can exit the exam hall only after the test is over.
- The GATE 2023 admit card can be used as a pass in case there are restrictions on movement in certain areas.
