CBSE Releases Syllabus For 10th, 12th Exams 2023: Two Term System Discontinued
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the new syllabus for classes 10 and 12 for the academic session 2022-23.
The Central Board of Secondary Education has announced the new syllabus for classes 10 and 12 for the academic session 2022-23. Authorities have not divided the class 10 and 12 syllabi into two terms for the 2022-23 academic year. CBSE introduced the two-term system during the COVID-19 pandemic period in 2021. However, they have now discontinued it for the session 2022-23. The CBSE curriculum for the academic year 2022-23 can be downloaded from the CBSE official website – cbseacademic.nic.
During the COVID-19 second wave, CBSE had to resort to alternative assessment methods to evaluate students. To avoid such a situation, the board introduced a two-term system, where they conducted two exams. Officials conducted the term 1 exam for classes 10 and 12 in November and December 2021. Meanwhile, they are scheduled to conduct the term 2 exams in April-May 2022. CBSE had adopted such a method to ensure that the board has at least one exam to assess students’ performance by the end of the academic year.

“The Assessment scheme will have a theory, internal assessment or practical components as per the syllabus given for each subject. The board shall conduct Annual examinations for class XII,” says the CBSE class 12 syllabus 2022-23. “The Assessment scheme will have an 80 marks component for Board examination (class X) and Annual Examination (class IX) in all subjects except compulsory subjects to be assessed internally along with a 20 marks component of Internal Assessment,” says the CBSE syllabus 2022-23.
