CBSE Inaugurates 16 Excellence Centres for Continuous Professional Development of Teachers

CBSE has set up 16 Centres of Excellence (CoE) in various parts of the country for in-service training of the teachers in all its affiliated schools. The centres have been established to ensure teachers receive continuous professional development (CPD). According to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, every school should ensure that its teachers participate in a minimum of 50 hours of continuous professional development.

According to the Central Board of Secondary Education's by-laws, teachers must spend at least 25 hours participating in training programs run by the Board. Other sources should be used to complete the remaining hours. The state or union territory's separate education departments must set up the resources for completing the training.XII subjects while there are 22 generic courses ranging from Adolescent Education Program, Art Integration, Inclusive Education, Happy Classrooms, Cyber Safety and Security and more.

A recent report states that 124 government secondary (Class 10) and senior secondary (Class 12) schools in Ladakh are now connected with the CBSE. Also, the CBSE curriculum is now being used in 1,000 government schools in Andhra Pradesh.
